Got the block and all back from the machinist. One of the rod cap nuts wouldn't torque down, so I swapped the nut to the other side of the rod and it did the same thing to that stud, I can get it to click but it doesn't feel right, and the stud with the other nut torqued down fine. So obviously the nut is bad, does the stealership sell those? Can I get a grade 10.9 hardware store nut?

I'm not sure how available that stuff would be new from Ford. Check with Jegs or Summit though, I think I saw an ARP kit a year or so ago.

A hardware store nut should work, but I would tend to think of that as a last resort. But then I get pretty neurotic when I'm doing engine work.

In our city of 100,000 we have three nut and bolt specialty stores. They would have or could get what you need. Check your yellow pages or google.

Well I'm glad I dicked with it some more because the threads on the stud stripped. Time for a couple new studs and nuts....[emoji36][emoji31]

Good thing it screwed up on me while it was out of the rig instead of it backing off and throwing a rod through the block
