Oh its getting done. But I think my imagination just got in the way. As you may know I just built a 4 speed tcase, my 56/20 doubler. My crawl ratio is 74.745, but I'm now thinking of building another 4speed setup that will have my crawl ratio at 203.306 right now my doubler is 19.25" long from trans to center of ujoint. My new design will add about 4" in length helping me to achieve the equal driveshaft length I'm after. What will the setup consist of you ask? The gearsets from two 1356's, custom housing and another Dana 20. Yep, that's right, a 56/56/20. A 203 crawl ratio ain't bad for an auto equipped rig, is it? And that's before the new axles go in, which will be like another crawl box added

Yep, gonna be looking at getting them hopefully around turkey day, or sooner. SVT's getting a new frame, new axles, new trick suspension, and a double Bob. I've got the suspension plans in my head, but I will have to figure something out for driveshafts as it'll have the capability of 24" of suspension travel, at both ends. Talk about flexy

My '91?
Lots of changes, more HP, links, shedding as much weight as possible. In the long run I would like to build a 2-3 seater tube chassis, maybe do a comp ready rig. So for now its a long term project.

For this truck, I dont plan on moving the rear axle forward, it has a ~115" wheelbase, should be great for steep climbs. I will be running my old 4" skyjacker leaves and belltechs in the rear. It should be pretty capable and get me out on the trail while I build my dream rig.

Ill get you some measurements tomorrow. It should be the same as a shortbox + an inch or so. I cut the bed to its new length with fitting the tonneau cover in mind. It would have been easier If I wanted to take out about 14" because I could simply move the rear holes to the mid hole location and be done with it. I still need to finish welding all of the seams.
I had to cut off the rear bolt/support member and do a little trimming on the very rear section that was welded back on for it to fit back up flush. I will also need to throw in a ~0.25" spacer underneath the rear bed so I can open and close the tailgate without it hitting the frame in its new location.

After 1st cut

2nd cut in between the bed support, I had to chisel a few spot welds

after 2nd cut I removed 12.625"

I finished the bed bob today and cut the box behind the fenders to give more ground clearance. I will be taking ~11" out of the frame. The truck will be 19" shorter overall after removing the rear bumper, cutting the frame and welding in a new crossmember.

I went to the steel yard and picked up what I need for a new crossmember and some other odds and ends. Hacked off the rear frame and bumper, Cut and fit the rear 2"x4"x3/16" added 1" d-ring shackle mounts that I made. Cut stock brackets off the Dana 30, bent up and tacked on the truss, and notched the long arms.

You may have mentioned it, but what type of suspension up front are you going with? Also, ever thought about DIY beadlocks? At $45 per wheel, I'm doing them on project HWW, which I hope to begin sometime next week...
