Retro off road lights

I’d like to add some auxiliary lighting to my 94 so I have a more effective high beam setup when driving my dark country roads. I could go with my personally tried a true setup of some Diode Dynamics SS3 amber driving lights, but I think it will spoil the look of the truck.

I’d love to find something that will fit behind the grill for a sleek look, but I would also consider mounting them in front of the grill on the bumper or fabbing a basic push bar. I love the look of the classic 1980s-90s KC Lights, but don’t want their rather dismal performance, and would prefer an amber color. Bonus points if it’s an LED to cut down on amperage draw.

Any ideas folks?

They are expensive! I’d really like to stay under $200-$250.

What would be really cool is to find a retro halogen light I like, and be able toretrofit a led bulb into it. I know the output wouldn’t be as good as an led light with 9 leds but it would satisfy my retro look with low output desire.

I saw those, I wonder if it’s possible to upgrade the bulb. Saw some beat up on marketplace for $20 if he still has them I’m gonna snag them

I wanted smallish round amber fogs for my pickup. I couldn't find any. I did buy a sheet of amber tape made to cover clear lights. Works pretty good. Reviews said two layers darkened them up more to amber opposed to yellow. I really want them closer in color to my park lights... so I plan to add a second layer at some point... still plenty left on the sheet.

It is cheaper to buy the led ones than convert with kc parts.

Hid conversions are pretty cheap though.

I have Hella Rallye 4000c lights on mine... Maybe these are "retro" enough?

Very happy with their performance... I initially considered upping them to 100W, but concluded it was completely not necessary.
They are available in both spot-beam (a.k.a. pencil-beam), and driving light beam patterns (mine are the driving lights).
In the past, you could also get amber (or "dichroic"?) bulbs that put out a yellow or amber light, though I haven't checked their availability in awhile.

Like any other halogen light though, it is best to wire them up using a lighting relay.

Hella also has an LED version of this light, but not only does the lens look anything but "retro", the light output (color) is lower quality IMO (and they are more than 2½× the price too).

you can buy those cheap 4" round tractor lights from walmart, tractor supply, maybe anywhere, and then go to napa and get new bulbs for them. on the bulb wall, look for aircraft landing lights. they will drop right into those round cheap tractor lights and now you have wood burning light output.

i used to run those on my 87 wrangler. they are not led though
