Hello everyone,

Recently I hit a telephone pole in my 2004 Ranger EDGE on the front passenger side and aside from the body damage, the bolt connecting the tie rod to the wheel spindle pulled through the spindle. I had it towed to a body shop to give me an estimate and submit a collision claim with my insurance co., but due to some minor damage on the bumper (someone hit me while I was parked) it now looks like they might end up totaling the vehicle. Rather than loose my truck, I am now considering just fixing the mechanical components and living with the cosmetic damage.

The truck is still at the shop, but I did get a chance to look at the damage before I had it towed. It looks like the wheel spindle and tie rod end will definitely need to be replaced, and possibly the lower a-arm, but I really don't know for sure.

What is the worst case scenario for what I will have to replace? Any special tools needed?

I'm not in a huge rush to get it fixed and have plenty of time to work on it.

Thanks
-Matt

Worst case, knuckle, tie rods (inner and outer), ball joint(s), lower arm, and maybe need a bit of tweaking to the frame.

Might as well do the UCAs, LBJs, TREs all at the same time, include Camber bolts on each UCA. Auto Parts stores will rent you the ball jont tool, typically free (they charge you on your card, and credit it back when you return the tool.) Rockauto.com has good prices.
