I put a Delco rebuilt starter on my '93 Ranger w/3.0L (or had it put on due to one bolt I could not deal with—your know the one) in late 2005. It has held up the way I would expect a Delco product to hold up.

It's beginning to slow down these days, working harder to turn. I checked battery today: it reads 12.6 volts, meaning fully charged.

After some calls to area parts stores, the best I can locate is a Remy rebuilt. I always considered Delco-Remy to be the same thing, but maybe nowadays it's not.

Can anyone vouch for the quality and endurance of a Remy rebuilt starter vs. Delco? -thx

I always thought they were one-and-the-same as well. To me, Delco-Remy is GM's after-market supplier. What would they know about Ford starters? That said, it can't be that difficult to rebuild a starter and they may be all the same, on the insides. However, I would try a different brand. Order something from Rock Auto or try to source a starter from AER. If you're really tired of the problem, go get a new Motorcraft unit from the dealer.
