I have been redoing a tailgate for my truck, I was intending to get black F O R D lettering to go with my dark green and black trim instead of the white it has now (with a black background)

Looking for letters I see reflective letters are available, black during normal light but they reflect white at night.

This seems insanely cool but I have to ask myself why I never see anything but the reflective red/white stripes on heavy trucks and construction equipment. Anyone heard if there ever anything against it if it isn't safety related?

On larger trucks you have to have extra lights and such. But that's in Texas so it may be different for where you are. Considering the cars I've seen repainted with stickers and decals I can't imagine yours being an issue.

Sent from the road while ignoring traffic

Shouldn't be an issue...NFPA mandates those reflective chevrons on the entire back of Fire trucks & Ambulances now so an F O R D...no problem

the red/white reflective tape does not apply to your Ranger....... its a commercial equipment thing, you would not understand.......

your good with your reflective letters.

The only thing I see is that back-up lamps (white) can't be lit while the vehicle is driving forward. I know that's Indiana, but all states pretty much follow USDOT. A reflector shouldn't be a problem since it isn't a lamp, but it doesn't mean you can't be stopped for it or charged for it. Showing white light to the rear is the issue. On a truck or wide trailer, the white is going to alternate with a red reflector. The only white by itself is on the corner markers high up on the trailer. I guess, I wouldn't put RANGER in white reflectors.

are you guys slow or something? hes not talkin about lighting the F O R D up, just having reflective paint on them like the old boss stripes on the 69-70 mustangs had along the side. I know they have this paint/ sticker stuff but I cannot think of it right now. btw, he wants it to look black durring the day and when light is shined(shone?) on it at night, it reflects as a silvery/white color

No, I can smell what they are stepping in.

To some cop looking to write a ticket it could be twisted around to having the same effect as a white light.

I did go to order them and as it turns out while it is listed under colors it is not listed under the F O R D decal set in the ordering part of the website... so it is all for naught anyway.
