Just finshed the head liner in my 89 ranger . the p. o. had let it set for 3-4 years and used it for storage stuffing it to the sealing . the head liner fabrce was sagging in several places and torn and golged into the form.
The first thing was getting the form out after removing the seats and trim panals. The head liner had been recovered before so some places where easy to peal the fabric from and other place I had to be carefull not to pull the fiberglass form apart.
Next was removal of the foam that backed the fabric. That was done with a scrub brush with care knot the dig into the form. With the foam removed and the dust blowen off I could see the damage that needed to be fixed to the form.
I used fiberglass reson first to coat the hole inside of the form, and then sanded to smoth it out. I used 2 coats , the first soaked in. After sanding , I used body filler to fill in the inperfections and sanded that.
I was ready to recover the form . The faberic comes with the foam already on it, I got mine from auto zone. Useing spray trim adhesive fold fabric in half and centering on form leaving planty of hangover to fold over the frount and rear edge , spray a good coat of glue on both form and back of head liner . Do only enougth to stick a few inches at a time . Follow all dirrections on glue an the ones that come with head liner. do not strich head liner and avoid rincals . use sisers and a raser blade to trim and cut all holes needed.
Install reverse of removal.
