rear drum adjuster help

I just put brakes on my 06... I swear it had the same as the new one pictured here.

I didn't get all picture of it though. I'm not going to pull a drum tonight either. But I bought all new hardware on Amazon. I'll go back through my history and see if i can find it.

That's the kit I got but the adjuster is too big but my drums look the exact same as yours it makes no sense

The only thing I can tell you is put it together and take pictures of the entire assembly.

since you may have a mixture of various parts, I would remove the shoes and place them in the drum.
substitute a socket for the top anchor pin, then see if the adjusters fit. if it is close get the file or grinder out for fine tuning.
that will eliminate all the other levers 'n stuff which may be moving the shoes around.

that small star adjuster just does not seem like the proper part to me.
the newer style with the bolt, and old style without it both have similar sized star wheels, should function the same.
remember, the threads are reversed side to side, don't mix them up.

do the cylinder pins retract enough so the shoes contact the big anchor pin?

don't feel bad about the picture angle, I can't bend over that far either :icon_thumby:

That picture was to show the wheel stud installation tool.

I do remember thinking I should take pictures of the entire assembly for the questions that get asked here.

Do you have a F150?

Seriously... it's not the correct part for your Ranger.

It very well could be the reason your brakes self destructed.

But do as you please... it's your life. But consider everyone else's life you're putting in jeopardy with your hodge podge.

I don't have a 150 but that's what was on the other side the normal ranger one doesn't fit for some reason

i feel like we are missing something here, something must have been changed on the truck, or we are being seriously trolled

did you try another adjuster kit? Wouldn't be the first one that I have seen mispacked or cataloged wrong. Did the shoes fit correctly along with the rest of the hardware?

I went to the dealership today on my lunch and got the service history on my truck last time it was there was in 2008 so they had to have brought it somewhere else I also noticed my leafs are bigger then a normal ranger when I get home I will look for any Identification on my rear dif

F150 has about a 9 inch wider overall width.

F150 axle has a different bolt pattern for the wheels.
