Rear diff fill bolt location

Driver's side of the diff housing, midway between the ring and the pinion flange, above the fin.

As adsm08 said, it's on the housing and not the cover. FWIW if you can find a junkyard that will part with one separate from the axle, the cover on an '02-up Explorer IRS has fill and drain plugs and will bolt right on if you grind off the IRS mounting ears on each side.

+3 will have a female square drive head on it.

Transmissions are something I hate not having a drain bolt on but besides the ability to drain the fluid slightly cleaner the cover should still always be removed on a diff whether it has a drain or not. There's no filter in there! Always good to clean anything out especially in a LS where clutch material slowly wears. :icon_thumby:
