Ravo's Ranger

thanks guys.. it means a lot. really. i've always loved getting my hands dirty. i helped build my dads 74 cj 5 twice due to a garage fire. when i bought the truck i didn't plan on putting this much work into it. i figure tune up, fix the 4x4 and then lift. boy was i wrong. the PO had no idea what he was talking about. Lucky for me i have my dad who over the years has learned some things and is willing (reluctantly) to put aside his projects and help me get my ride on the road. i work 4 or 5 days a week with high school and 8.55 an hour to pay for this thing. i was really determined. theres a few more things that need to be taken care of. the bed is in need of replacing. both front corners underneath the liner are missing. i need to beat all the rust off the frame and under coat it. theres a list but hey. there always is.

and whether directly or indirectly you guys and this site have helped me out a lot. so thanks

also. don't tell the local police but i took my truck down the street and back for a test drive yesterday with out it registered. lol. with 32's and stock gears i was really surprised at how much get up and go she has. i accidently chirped the tires when i pulled away. i was probably only at like 1500 rpms and got off the clutch a little quick

X2

I'm a teenager and my truck needs work, unfortunately I owe lotsa money on it, so its hard to fix the truck up

I'm glad now I can say I'm no longer a teenager lol :icon_bounceblue:

Haha it really sucks, because I could get tons of hours at work but since Im in school its really hard to keep up, I tried to bump up my hours and I started failing classes so I had to take it down a notch, although its the last quarter in a week and I think im gunna get more hours again cause I really need the money

yeah. i work like 25 hours a week plus 35 hours of high school every week. so thats like 60 hours of my week gone

so do you think i would be safe putting 2 or 3 washers under my new coils. i still rubbed the fog valence at full lock if i compress the suspension too much

As long as you have full thread engagment on the hold down bolt I would do it. That's how I did mine I don't know f you the camber correction cams in but I'd get those as well

i figure when i take it for an alignment they could just do the new cams for me

thats true. like i said id do it. but then you have to tear it all apart do you have a pic of how bad its rubbing? if its just a little you could trim the valance back a bit or just remove the whole thing

EDIT: also i get the feeling the shop that aligns it wont like your shock extenders lol and when you get the proper shocks you may be able to stuff the tire a bit higher so its gonna end up rubbing again

the shocks arent the problem. and i'm not trying to get a whole bunch of articulation. but when i backed out of my driveway the other day(its kind of steep), and turned the wheel, the articulation from my driveway made it rub for a sec. but i can't see where its rubbing. so i don't know how much more i need to trim as i already trimmed it to the same angle as the bumper. i guess i'll just turn the wheel, and jack up one side untill it rubs and see whats going on

i dont mean to say that the shocks are the problem but when you eventually so step up to the longer shocks to match the lift in the front the longer shocks will allow for more compression then the ones you have now. so the tire may go higher up into the fender so im just saying later on in the future you may end up having to trim even more

i found out something interesting when i bought these shocks actually. it turns out that 2wd and 4wd shocks are the same length. i read all the time that people with 2wd trucks get 4wd shocks when they lift 2" but in reality it makes no difference

MO' Pictures!!

i took this one at my local ice cream place.

man do those new springs ride like a rock... i love it

let me get the frame all undercoated before i go play in the mud. i don't want it to rust faster than it already is.
