Rangerrod 2.0

Wow Sweet Build and Sweet Rig ! , I've always wanted to do a SAS and Thought about only using a HpD44 up Front and 9" Rear , Only Plan on 37"--38"s , But now I'm thinking Otherwise , Great Build !! .

Thanks guys I'm planning the next phase of this build as we speak. If your going to run 37-38s then get tons you'll be money ahead believe me. I'm working out a lot of the small bugs and will probably wheel it in its current incarnation till spring or summer. Should have something to post up by the end of the weekend. M

Nice build great fab work all around , might halfto re think my orange colour ideia seems like alot of you guys are already useing it lol

Mine wasn't supposed to as orange but that's another story.

Haven't updated in awhile. Trying figure out my tranny heat problem and wasn't really happy with the radiator. So sold it bought a bigger one and I'm going to use a two speed Volvo fan. It's similar to Taurus but comes off the shroud easier. Using Volvo relays and BMW dual temp switch to control them.
The Volvo shroud is more centered too and almost flat so it could be a better swap canidate than a Taurus fan.

Also power steering pump wasn't having it went and got a pump off a ford van. Saginaw pump and bracket ended up having to modify the bracket and make the pulleys fit the belt. That's why there's a little adjustment with the rod coupling and bolt in the picture.

Here's a link to the article that I got the info from for the fan.

Got the truck just in time for some snow. Pretty happy with the fan setup tranny should be happier. Using Volvo fan and relays. Pretty similar to the Taurus fan except the fan is more centered in the shroud. Here's the link to fan info last one didn't work some good tech in there.

You'll notice Saginaw pump installed too. It's sweet. Steers much better.

Looking good!!!

Thanks I'm a lot happier with that fan. Going to try to take it out here in the next week. Got a wheeling trip planned for the 12th. Going in deep snow.

Not actually the fan shroud but the bracket that holds fan and modified Volvo shroud to ranger body. But it turned out good and fan will suck a small child through it hopefully keeps tranny temps down.

Now steering cooler pump is getting hot just driving on gravel roads when in 4wd. So bought the biggest heat sink cooler I could find. 24" dual pass now I got to figure out where to mount it. I'm think under the flatbed but that's a lot of line.

Would it fit across the radiator? Then then fan will move air over it as well.

You could also try and put it inside a fender and cut some vent holes. Just a thought :icon_twisted:

More line would be more cooling... how about along the firewall?

Exactly what you need. More line equals more fluid capacity, which means it'll be easier to keep it kool...

I believe the only down side to this is the longer the line, the more line loss you experience. If you pump is struggling already, long line is a bad choice. I haven't taken a class in fluids (yet), but from working in refineries, I am fairly certain this would hold true for this hose. This is a much smaller application, and this may be completely irrelevant. But I thought it would be worth considering.

It's going to be on the return so not sure if there's line loss. It's got to be below the reservoir which at this time is the pump. Tranny line is $4 a foot ill need 16-20 feet. It's too wide to mount under the fan but behind the radiator. So probably still mount it under the flatbed. Could mount it above the sliders on the bottom of the cab. But I don't really want rocks getting sprayed up on it from the front tires. Should have bought one just a little smaller.
