Ranger Gas Mileage

Milage help

I bought a Tornado, and got a 2.5 mpg increase! My Wifes van got 3.5. It installs in your cold air intake pipe. 5 minutes. Cost about 50 bucks or so. It's actually a vortex generator, where it spins the air going in, thus speeding it.

From what I read on the forum on Tornados, I probably wont get one... A lot from what I read was to get a tune up. I hate taking my truck into the dealership. I feel insecure giving my truck to some guy I dont know. I sort of feel like it is real easy to be scammed on.

Reading the Tornado forum, one thing I may want to do is take it in for a tune up. What exactly are they going to do for a "tune up" other than changing my oil and checking the rest of my fluids. Is it neccessary that I take it in and get a tune up. I've got 39K miles on it now, bought it used with 32K. I dont know what the previous owner had done to it. Would a tune up help my gas mileage much as well?

Another thing, what kind of fuel should I be putting into my truck. I usually just put regular 87 octane into it. If I stepped up to 89 octane, would I have a more efficient fuel that burns better and increases my gas mileage more than the extra cost in the fuel?
