RaceRangers Build

Does it still change the stability, even if rightside-up they are the same height as upside-down?

I'd assume so, as it lowers the truck while it is in normal travel mode and then causes the droop when the tires lift off the ground. Otherwise you would have to accomplish the travel by lifting or softer springs or something. I dunno.

No a whoe lot to do with ride hight. If you noticed the shackle is fliped and moved down so it didn't really lower it a whole lot. Having it set up this way is a better range of motion, getting the most out of the springs.

It allows the leafs to lay out with out de-arching at full bump. It also keeps the leafs from having spring separation at full droop.

Got a 5 speed from a 94 Ford Expo and a manual trans computer for a 97 4.0 Ranger. Can I make that work?

Also, Im gunna be running the auto for a while. I am making a race shifter work on the floor and I have a steering column for a manual, anyone know the best way to get control of overdrive since i wont have the button?

You should be able to make it work. I believe the 97 Ranger had a sensor on the rear end and the tail shaft of the transmission. Check the explorer transmission for a vehicle speed sensor. If it has it you should be good to go.

If the truck was register off road or if it was Pre 96' and if we didn't live in California. I'd say go to a stand alone fuel and ignition system.

I am going to get it running just like it did in the other truck, smog it, them rip off the exhaust, get rid of charcoal canister bs, plum my fuel cell, etc.

What county are you in? In Kern county we have to smog every two years. In the nearby county of Inyo, they only have to smog once and its done. The only time they have to smog is for transfer of ownership. Although from what I am told, California is going to do away with separate county smog laws.

Ahh.. I hear that.. Theres a point in time with a truck when you wonder.. Is it even worth putting it on the road?

After the fix it tickets, smog hassles, loss of creature comforts, I've wondered that..

Yeah, the only reason I am bothering at all is to save the occasional hassle of towing it to local spots, maybe a few meets with local prerunners. Its fun to drive but it gets old fast and its risky with how many cops are around here, not to mention random smog stops on major streets. I think I am going to sacrafice even more comfort by adding tubes along the tops of the doors and up to the A-pillars. The Trucks gunna be fast and I don't want to die in it or hurt someone with me.

You guys have random smog stops on major streets around you? That's a complete killjoy.
