i just picked up a set of hella 500s brand new for 35 bucks i thought it was a good deal but any ways the wiring directions kind of make it seem like i have to run them thru my high beams and to a switch and im sure there is a way to just run them rite to the switch and pass up on the high beams im just not all that great with electrical and would like to know the right way to do that just so i dont mess anything up

can any one help?

Here's a great link that will get you started with the basics:

If its still a little fuzzy, find a buddy that's good with electrical work or a trustworthy repair shop.

thats the link that i printed off and put in my wiring drawer on my tool box. they tell you to run it through the headlights so that when you turn on the high beams the 500s will shut off, kind of a dot legatlity thing, but if youre using your high beams then that means there is no one in sight to blind so why not have the rest of your lights on too? ive got 5 of the 500s on my truck with silverstar bulbs and they are bright as hell! hella FTW!

if you have the HELLA 500 FF's, those are fog lights and usually turn off when the brights go on. brights and fog lights on at the same time doesn't make much sense really. the brights will reflect back so bad in fog that it will make the fog lights useless really.
just my $.02.

true but i can just shut em off at the switch if i turn the brights on but i guess them goin off by them self is easier
