Hey everyone. Im currently doing an axle swap. I bought a 94 ranger from a guy and am swapping the dana 35 out for my dana 28 ttb and am swapping the 7.5 from mine out for what im pretty sure is an 8.8 (checked out the tech library)

now my questions are as follows:

I know i have to shorten the front driveshaft (1.5"?) since im stock height correct?

Is there anything i have to do to the rear end since its an 8 year difference? ive seen a few threads about the rear flange being different possibly or having to use a certain u joint to connect the driveshaft to the 8.8 but cant find a straight answer.

thats all for now at least haha.

thanks in advance everyone!

The later rear will have a larger pinion flange, yes. Several ways to deal with it, ranging from swapping the mating flange on your driveshaft, to simply redrilling & tapping the flange with the smaller pattern.

And correct, front driveshaft needs to be shortened 1-1½".

Ok cool man,
Thanks for the reply!

I have the other drive shaft still connectedto the new rear ( it has been cut in half )

I'll see about switching the flange or redrilling or tapping. Whichever I find easier haha.

Thanks again!
