Pulling the bed - with pics.

This has been posted a bunch on here. Man!! It is a lot of work to do. I never removed a bed on any truck before to replace a fuel pump or a fill neck. I am so glad that I have a few friends that have lifts I can use when I need a lift...lol

Then do your cats say this?

Just curious, what does a bed with the tailgate attached weigh?

Hmm. Can't weigh more than 100 lbs, plus tailgate? Stood on its end, I was able to carry the bed all by myself. It's bulk is pretty awkward, though. Tailgate was removed.

But great when they are FULL of snow...more traction than a bear in running shoes...

The keyword is awkward. It really doesn't weigh much at all, but my back is pretty unhappy with me and all the macho crap of my youth, so I look for better ways to do things. I had a friend over at the house working on his Mazda and had him help me with keeping an eye on things when I dropped it back on.
Scratching things unnecessarily just bums me out.....

And yeah, I could've washed everything up and done some detailing, but my main objective was to get the filler neck fixed so I could smog and register the dang thing.

Did the same thing pre-Katrina to my 90 F150 which had two tanks and the dreaded fuel-return valve overflow problem...running off the front tank you could look in the rear-view mirror and see gas running out of the filler neck cause fuel returning unburned from engine to tank would eventually overflow a tank due to a faulty valve in the pump. Anyway, did the fuel pump replacement in the driveway and didn't have to lift the bed off...just went to the local mech shop, had him loosen the bed bolts, went home and me and the neighbor just picked it up and slid it back on the frame a couple of feet so I could access the front pump from above. I've seen others do the same, only they simply raise the front of the bed and prop it up to keep it out of the way while servicing the in-tank pump(s). Tailgate is the heaviest part of the whole process. Tailgate on my old 69 F250 was the heaviest I ever encountered...a real hernia beast, toes beware!

Bwahahahaha!

Hernia Beast! Now showing as a double feature with Sharknado......

My Dad used to call such heavy things "ball breakers"...but that term found use in other areas...such as a nymphomaniac who frequented our neighborhood...never broke any balls with her, but I'm sure she had a heck of a swing!

Where's that "useless without pics" icon?

What? My old hernia scar or the nympho? Use your imagination dude.

LOL and lol...no pics of the scary scar thanks and the nympho has moved on and found God...but I'm still working on my swing...

... and disconnect the tail light harness connector (didn't get a pic of the connector, stupid phone) it's under the left rear.........

The tail-light wiring connector is tucked up just behind the rear bumper, and looks like this (top right of photo):
