Project Trail Authority (Official Build Thread)

The gears will be in within the next few days, so I'll be able to start installing them this weekend! Once the D35 is ready to go, I'm gona go ahead and start the lift process. The Exploder 8.8 is going to have to wait, as I am waiting on some funds. So I might have to rock the 7.5 for a week or two. Can't wait to get her started:headbang:

Nice jack, looks brand new! What size is it?

Thanks man. It is brand new. The guy got it as a gift, and didn't even use it once. It's a 48" got it for $50!

Well stated.. High lifts are a gift from god! Ha ha. I'm gona bolt on a 1/5x6x12" aluminum plate to the bottom, to help keep it from sinking in mud. A winch is on the list as well, but it can wait till I find a good deal. I still have to fab the bumpers anyway, so I couldn't mount one if I had it.

This is getting kind of frustrating.... Jeephut.com, the place I bought the 5.13's for the D35, is kind of jacking me around. They said they had them in stock when I bought them, I waited, they didn't come in, so I called them, they said they shipped and hung up on me. I called back a few days later, and they said it didn't ship, and that they were on back order, and I won't see them till the middle of next month!

There is no point in installing the lift till I have the gears in. Everything else is here, and just sitting in the garage.... Has anyone else had an experience with JeepHut.com? Good or bad? I'm kind of curious.

I did however; remove the bed, replaced the fuel pump, install the Belltech 6400's, rear shocks, and bumpstop exstenders. I might even be starting the tube bed this weekend! I was able to pick up 40' of 1 3/4x 1 3/4x .120 wall steel tube for $110. That will be just enough for the basic frame of it. As soon as I dig up my USB cord, I'll post up the pics I have of the progress so far.

looks like fun, mate. :icon_cheers:

Thanks man! It'll be a whole lot more fun, once I get my D35 gears. Looking at all the parts laying around is starting to drive me nuts! ha ha. I guess the tube bed/bumper project will keep me busy enough till then. Not to mention, I have half a frame to sand, and Rinoline.

Tube-bed pics!

Got started on the bed yesterday, and was able to get most of the basic frame done this afternoon. Still quite a ways to go, but I really like the way it's looking. Slo-Vo's tube-bed, was a huge inspiration for the design. Thanks Slo-Vo!

I used 1 3/4 x 1 3/4x 120 wall square tube for most of it, and 1 x 2" 120 wall for the cross members.

(2) 1 3/4 tube @70" long

(2) 1 3/4 tube @ 29 1/2" long (end pieces)

(2) 1x2" tube @ 29 1/2" long (center cross members)

I spoke with the guys at Jeephut.com, and they said I should see my gears the first week of March. I'm getting pretty excited to get started on that. Until then, I have a roll bar and front bumper to build:icon_cheers:

cool build man, i'll keep an eye on it

Thanks man! Much more to come (shortly). Once I get the gears, things will start moving a lot faster.

Ha ha, that's how I'm feeling too!

I'm curious... Does anyone know roughly what my top speed will be, with 5.13 gears and 35's? I'm not going to do much highway driving, so I'm not worried about it, but just kind of curious.

Thanks.
