Project SVT

Hey, I gotta remind people to be safe around power tools, if you don't have enough respect for them, they slap you up side the head and make you respect them! Yeah, mine was actually worse than what the pic shows...I need to post up a pic of my thumb now, it looks normal again except for the butt thumb look.
Plans today are to hopefully finish the sliders today, and I should be able to get to my early bronco to pull the tcase out of it, weather here has been getting better and better, and since its real soft back there its hard to get to...
SVT

too bad you dont have working 4wd to get back there lol. damn catch 22....

Actually, I do have 4WD (this week :D), and I just got finished moving it to a grassy area with my tow bar that a friend gave me, that thing has paid for itself 3 times already, well, if I had to buy one, and I would!! Way better than a car dolly, which I hate using those damn things...Anyways I got it moved, got under there to pull the Tcase, and didn't like what I saw. It would have been a lot of work to pull the case, I would have had to pull the trans as well, since there is no trans X-member under there, the trans and tcase is supported by the adapter housing the tcase bolts to. Not to mention that the output shaft of the tcase (where the yoke is supposed to be at) was broke, no rear driveshaft, no yoke...So I think I will just order the parts I need from BG and wait for them to come in, they are usually quick on shipping, so I should have em next week...Well, off to finish the sliders!!

would a 609 for the front and 9105 out back be unimog axles? or is it a 60 9" hybrid and a 10.5 9" hybrid

No, the hybrids...60 outers and 9" center up front, and 9" center with stering 10.5" outers. I will probably start out with 35 spline axleshafts for economy and to get them under the truck faster, but will upgrade to 40 spline at a later date...

Well, didn't get a whole lot done, I had a call that spent most of my time. I was able to get my rocker panels cut on both sides, and cleaned up a little from the fenders getting trimmed. I need to fill in where the the X-cab is at the rocker panel, as it uses a separate panel to meet the rockers. Think I will use great stuff urethane spray foam for this. I also finally changed out my dome light, I've had the explorer dome light for about 6 months or more, just now got it in...

You serious? I've wanted to use it on the Jeep but I was quickly told The stuff holds moisture and I'd rot my panels from the inside out...:dunno:

And thanks for reminding me I have a dome light to put in among other things:D Hows it light the cab up at night?

spray foam

As long as what you are foaming is clean and damp [the stuff I use recommends to mist with water to promote adhesion], the foam will adhere very well and block out water. Like anything else, prep is 90%.

Chris, I haven't tried it at night yet, but I know it will be way brighter than what I had, plus I will be swapping out the bulbs to LED bulbs soon anyways. Thinking of Red map lights and white dome lights...
AF, as long as you don't cut the foam once its cured and break the outer membrane, it will stop the moisture buildup. I have the problematic leak somewhere inside anyways, which is why my speakerbox is waterproof. I don't know if its my rear window or my 3rd brake light, but if you look in the pic with my domelight, you can see the water line on my head liner...
SVT

I think it is the 3rd brakelight....or at least that is where I believe mine leaks...

lookin' good Rick :icon_thumby::icon_thumby:

Well, worked all day (over 10 hrs) on the sliders and got em done...

No, not really, but I did work all day (over 10 hrs) on this, didn't finish til after 830 pm. Sometimes it sucks being the fire chief, another day gone that I didn't get to do the sliders. It's starting to look like Jon is building these things...

Everyone made it out ok, dryer caught fire, by the time they called us it was already through the roof on both sides. Got into the attic pretty quick...I just got finished going back out there right after I posted the pics...gonna be going out there a lot tonite...The fire is between the brick wall and the plywood inner wall, we just cant get to it, that combined with the shingle roof that was under the newly installed metal roof, made it real difficult to extinguish...
