Project SVT

I know the Ranger also had single pieces steelies up until '01(roughly). I got one from CeeGee's and it's a steel driveshaft out of a 2001 Ranger.
I knew some rangers had steel, others aluminum, but didn't know the year break. But I have a sport trac sitting in the yard waiting for shop time, and I know it has a steelie, thats why I was gonna use that...
All those goodys under the tarp......are about to find a hiding place at a friends shop to under go prep work without the prying eyes of the wife...:D
Chad, give me a call when your ready, I'll be glad to swing by and give you a hand :icon_thumby:
98-2000 or 2001 Ranger had the steel shafts, as i'm rocking one in the ranger. I think it is 2001 when they went to alum but im not sure...

The steel ranger shaft is larger in Dia. Then the 2 piece offerend in the Ext cabs. But smaller then the alum shafts in the ranger.
Also, have you added Belltech shackles to your ride yet SVT? if not, that will rid you of the factory block, and let you run only the 1 block rather then 2.
Thats what i did for my lift kit, it called for double blocks, i went explo springs belltech shackles, and a single 3'' block to match 6'' of lift up front.
Hope that helps

I do know that the one piece steel is larger in diameter than the two piece, which is great cause that means it is a stronger shaft...I haven't done the 6400 shackle yet, and its in the plans but I should have done it a while ago, just keep putting it off...I'm waiting til I do my 63 swap, but I'm not using stock springs, I'm going with a lifted pack, preferably from Skyjacker. I currently have a ranger and exploder combo 6 leaf pack, which gave me about 4 inches or so of lift. At the time it didn't help my flexability, but it greatly enhanced my trailer towing capability, which at the time I was doing a lot of... My plans are to go with a lifted 63 and rid of all blocks altogether...I found a shaft on Ebay for $65 shipped, I'm waiting for the seller to respond if its steel or aluminum so the G/F can get me another X-mas present :yahoo:

Since I did one for my Ranger, I gave it a shot at your Ranger!

It's not the best and I hope you don't mind. It took me about 30 mins to do...

The Legend of SVT

They say up in the Tennessee range lives a legend

Of a Ranger that's under constant mend,

It can be seen blowing through the mud and rocks,

not sitting upon concrete blocks,

He wails and roars through Turkey Bay,

one wishes to be there every day,

A light bar, big tires, and a nice pipes,

they even say it's taken flights,

But one thing that remembers them,

is that big, chrome SVT emblem,

The owner, they say, is named Rick,

his legend build is open with a mouse click,

He has numerous friends all over the net,

many of which he has never met,

So if you see the legendary SVT, beware,

because it's more than what you see there,

And if you see Rick, don't be a bum,

but whatever you do, don't smack his left thumb!

Paul, I don't mind, and I love it!! If it wasn't so long, I'd totally sig it :icon_thumby:

No way am I gonna leave you outta the mess Im getting in to!
Going to start shopping for some gears after Christmas.
What did you say the rear 60 you have has in it?

It had 410 gears in it, but I don't have that axle anymore...I'm currently hunting an axle, say like the one you have for the rear, or a 70...I'm gonna talk to Sr about using the axle under the flatbed dually we have as a last resort, but I'd like to find something else...

Find me a 60 with 4.56 or better and we will trade.

Update on the doubler build...The intermediate shaft has been holding me up...I also changed the plans slightly, but it worked out better this way...Instead of the 1354 as my tcase I will be using a dana 20, as it is stronger, has lower gearing options, smaller, and easier/simpler to design the intermediate shaft. Not to mention it looks like I will not have to mod/clearance my fuel tank :yahoo: I can get the dana 20 input shaft machined right on the 1356 main shaft, meaning there is no intermediate shaft or weld/joint to fail. The guy that will be doing the machining of the splines is not quite ready yet, so I'm thinking I will source another 56 main shaft and 20 input shaft and have them machined together until I can get the one piece shaft made...Up north at the G/F's right now celebrating our one year, but when I return tuesday, I'll pull this back out and start closing up the reduction box and getting final measurements for the shaft length...

Well, I got SVT up and driving again, ended up using a sport trac driveshaft, I had to change the flange on the tcase end, but that's due to the larger bolt pattern the AWD case uses...I didn't get to work on the doubler today as I had to strip one of my fire trucks to be de-commissioned. But hopefully tomorrow I will have time to work on it, as I got some material to work with and get closer to getting this doubler finished :yahoo: Stay Tuned :icon_thumby:

Wow, I love the build!! Are you going to get some bumpers, or are you going to leave the stockers on?

I planned to build my bumpers a while back, but they have been put on the back burner, and it'll be a little bit before I get to them...The front will have a winch that will be up under the grille and tucked up tight, so I need to get that before I can build it, but I have a good idea how I want it...

Theres a couple dana 60's and a sterling 10.25 in knoxville CL. If your looking for an axle.

If I go Sterling I'd find a 10.5, as all 10.5's has disc brakes...a 60 probably would be cheaper and easier to find...a 70 would be nice too, preferably stock :icon_thumby:
SVT

There is a Cheby 60 with 4.10s on Eville CL.
