Project Guinea Pig

That's why I didn't go with a newer efi system/harness or a automatic trans. I kept it simple at first now I'm upgrading to a simple efi next month or in June. I feel ya on the wiring. I'm not a fan at all!

This started as a misdiagnosed problem with my clutch hydraulic system. It was leaking at the trans and I originally was going to just replace the line from the master to the slave cylinder (and replace the master, the slave cylinder was only a month old.) Problem: the biggest parts place around (Lordco) has never carried that line and couldn't even give me a price on it. Not only was the line leaking but it wouldn't come apart and I wrecked it getting it out so I couldn't reuse it or use it as a pattern to get one made. I tried to take out 2 at the jy and failed so I gave up on the clutch system.
Damn shame as I had another M5OD-R1 and manual t case from a 4x Ranger ready to go in it. Would have been fairly simple to do, no messing with the trucks electrical junk or anything. But I broke the hydraulic line and couldn't source another.
My default was the driveline in the 92 Explorer that was supposed to be for the Bronco II. More complicated but do-able. This should have been fairly fast but between the weather and the gf's crap I ended up taking shortcuts and losing things, typical time losing stuff that happens when you DIY.
Its pretty close and I'll get there but I really need a job - cash infusion (read: get the ol lady off my back + money for stuff) and that has to be a priority instead. Its not like I've given up. :D

Bit of good news, for me at least. Starting a new job Monday. :yahoo:

As far as the truck goes, I'm convinced I have a ground issue - either one of the unused (hot) wires is grounding out or I've missed a ground wire someplace. On the plus side it hasn't burned to the ground yet so can't be too bad, right? lol
Oh, and my hood latch is screwed up now for some reason. Seems like one wacky fail after another sometimes. :icon_confused:

No fire is a big bonus!
Congrats on the job! I start Monday too. My job is seasonal though.

Pretty cool.
Seasonal can be sweet if its like fire season, then as the season is winding down it starts being hunting season (at least up here...)
I drive a dump truck so its mostly year round save for xmas. Guy is paying 23 an hour so I'll probably stay. :icon_thumby:

That would be a sweet gig! I get paid shit right now. After I make full time I'll make good money.

Might be starting tomorrow now. Met the guy today, has work for tomorrow...
:icon_thumby:
Just waiting for a call or text.

Most all newer rigs are now days aren't they?

They are a lot more popular these days, I'll give you that. But around here most truckers and for me personally, I still prefer the 18 speed Eaton Roadranger. (there, a Ranger reference. lol)
:icon_thumby:

Lol nice! I tried driving a split rear end rig once. I couldn't figure out how to get it into high range. I didn't have anyone to show me either. The boss just said here take this rig over to this place I said ok. Did 45 the whole way lol. Speed limit was only 50 though so I didn't look like a total tard.

After way too long working 6 days a week I finally have a weekend off, but I had to gash my leg open to get it. I got 14 stitches but its ok, chicks dig scars.
I've been lurking here and have been getting the bug to get this project off the ground again.
Cash is tight but I found a 4R70W in an Exploder last weekend at a wrecking yard. If its still there tomorrow I'm yanking it. I have a BW 4406 manual T-case already just waiting for this trans. I'll pull the computer from this Sploder while I'm there. I'd yank the 5.0 too except somebody beat me to the heads, intake and right side header. Ford Windsor engines aren't too hard to find though, I'm not too worried about that. How is this for a change of direction?

Question, should I liberate the oil pan from this while I'm there or is there a better choice? :icon_confused:

I'm using a 94 mustang pan. It gave me tons of room in my 87. My truck was 2wd though. It gave me so much room I gained 4-5" of clearance when I rebuilt the CM with 2"x4"x.25" tube. But I can't say which will give you more clearance since I haven't used an explorer oil pan.
