I am new here, a friend of the family passed away and I got his truck to repair/restore to give to my 15yr old grandson. he is excited to get started on it, been sitting since 2018. old gentleman had tremors and was losing the function of his legs and got his feet tangled up and gas for brake hit a utility pole holding his gate a couple of times. He meant a lot to us, so here we go, I purchased a donor and will pick it up this Sunday the 12th. this truck is 4x4 automatic with 3.0 v6. the donor is a 1999 with 3.0 and standard trans 2wd. there is a lot to do, not worried. the grandson is excited to get started. I will be asking some questions from a knowledgeable folks. I wanted to tune the puter to remove the O2 but my research says that not going to happen. is there anyway to convert to a dual exhaust? lol that a question my cuz will answer at his muffler shop. yep, poor thing has been hit more times than Joe Louis!! I did drop the tank and clean it out and replaced the sender unit/pump and inline filter, got fresh gas with some lucas injector cleaner, waiting on a new battery from our co-op.

That doesn't look bad considering he hit a ute pole. Those look like pretty easy fixes. Keep us posted when you get a chance.

Welcome TRS.

Doesn't look like you have a straight panel on that truck.

Good thing you're in Texas... up here that truck would be half eaten up with rust.

Just a bit of caution... beware of replacement parts. There is a bunch of pure junk in the parts supply chain any more. If you can use the factory parts on either of those trucks... you'll be miles ahead.

Welcome to TRS...

despite some scratches it's great looking Ranger.
I'm up in the rust belt and would willingly give up strategic body parts for a truck in that condition.

The only thing that looks too far gone to me is the grill and the driver's door. I think everything else there is close enough that once it's painted you'd be hard pressed to tell it at 20ft.
