Project El Taco...1990 BII

Ahh ok. Just read it wrong.

Little update...

First of all, I welded up the 8.8, and I cant believe the difference from before... and its not terrible on the street either, biggest noticeable difference on the street was it drives straighter, lol

After this little incident plowing in my door and rocker panel on some sort of stump while tearing up this little mud bank...

I decided it was time to get to building my sliders, so I started on them today... Ill get some more pics up after they are finished...

ouch, that sucks man.....oh well, shit happens

nice vid, that thing is a beast

Ive definately been thinking I should cut the rockers and tuck the sliders, so thats probably what Ill do. Not gonna do the Boat sides thing though, I dont think its really necessary on this rig, sliders alone should do just fine... Hahns B2 sits just a tad bit lower than mine and his sliders seem to treat him well.

I dont think that boat sides are needed on a B2 either. I have been measuring for my sliders and my sliders will still be 4 inches above the bottom of the frame rails

man your sohc b2 does very well offroad by the looks of it pull the dent put the sliders on it an it be good to go again nice work man any vids of it on the ashphalt giving er

Its when you plate the underside of your sliders to the frame, so it glides across things like rocks and stumps...Think the side of a Boat hull...

Ok So where are you going to mount the rear mount to the frame?
I was measuring again tonight and
I can mount to my rancho radius arm mount for the front,- I will just create a plate to bolt to my mounts on the outside.
then to the frame in the center,
not sure where to mount the rear as the spring mount and the cab mount are in the way.

Im going to bolt a Large piece of angle iron onto the frame inbetween the radius arm mount and the body mount, then im going to run two pieces of tubing to the slider as wide as I can run them and Ill see what it looks like, if there just isnt enough support, Ill run a couple of stringers to the body mounts. My sliders are 54" long, and im bolting a ~2ft piece of angle onto the frame... Im sure I wont get too much action on the front and back parts of the sliders, so I might be fine with the tubing at a 30" separation. Either way, I dont see it being any weaker than bolting them right to the body mounts...

did you weld the 8.8 up b4 u caved in the rocker? my buddy had to ram up things like that in his tracker untill we put a spool in the back and scince then he's been getting into harder trails and still comming out with less body damage then when he had an open diff.

Yeah, it was welded up there, but stuff was pretty greasy and Pat (Totalled) went up before me, is locked front and rear, and he had to get some wheel spin to make it up, so I followed that logic... even though I probably coulda been a little easier on things, didnt think I was going to come out with that much damage... Its not too bad though, since the rockers are going, all I have to do is get another door and all is good... I dont think I would have been able to make it though that trip without being welded in the back...
