ok so im a big chevy fan but you cant beat the price it is today to build a ranger into a play prerunner and well i came across this 84 ranger from a guy that just started workin at my auto shop. all he wanted for it was 400 bucks!

the BAD:

water pump was shot, tranny is about due for a new one, and just a few other minor things

the GOOD:

motor runs like a champ, rear end will be fine till i get the 8.8 under her, has pro comp 5.5 lift with 2" over I Beams, new shocks, and was CHEAP

In the works:

Just finished stripping paint and primered, fixed water pump, fixed front wheel bearings and put new front brakes on, put some eagle alloys on and painted semi-gloss black, hass close to new 33x12.50x15 bfg all terrains on now, added cup holders (pimp status now lol), and fixed some little things. here are some pics of progress

just picked it up

i will soon be droppin a 4.0l out of a 1996 Exploder and 8.8 rear end out of that same exploder, then a M5OD trans will soon follow. from there ill be puttin a long travel setup up front and either the giant 64" leaf spring kit out back or jsut regular deavers out back. next will be a full cage front to back then all teh little stuff like seats, harnesses, spare tire mounts, lights, bumpers, and so on.

not really, the front is already glassed and i can pick up some rears for cheap.

thanks everyone, i have been wantin to build another truck since i sold my 2000 gmc that i had all done up.

well here is an update. just picked up a 1992 ford exploder. has 150,000 easy miles on it i guess you could say (grandma drove it and son kept well maintained). Was gunna buy a 1996 but the guy dipped out on me . It has a few minor things wrong like interior pieces broke, valve covers like some oil, needs tune up, and tires but i could care less for that stuff other than the tune up since its my donor vehicle for teh ranger! tranny is about to go in the exploder but it made it home, all for 700 bucks! motor runs really strong and rear end has no leaks! cant wait to get this thing in the ranger and run her down the road! gotta find a M50D soon now

Honestly a 92 4.0 is better for the ranger, reason being is OBD-1 is easier to swap then a OBD-2 on an older Ford. You have the aluminum plenum it's better then that plastic crap on the 95+ 4L's. I consider the 92-94's 4L to be the better ones that ford ever built.

I see you have the old school procomp radius arms on this ranger, when you swap to a long travel kit. Are you gonna use those radius arm or sell them? If you sell them later let me know.

x2

well hell im very glad to know that! i dont know a whole lot about these trucks as far as what ones are better and why.

I will be sellin them along with the whole kit (minus the add-a-leaf, took it out and my shop threw them away before i told them not to). My friend told me to tell him about it also but i have a feelin he may fall through so i will definitely keep you in mind for my next person to contact.

Truck looks good...You wanna sell that center console?

What will be in the kit? This will be put into storage for a future build on my next ranger. I would only need the coils, arms, drop down brackets. I would not need anything else. I would buy procomp traction bars, shocks later down the line when I buy my next ranger. Keep me in mind. What price range are you looking at for this sale?

teh kit would included: shocks, 4" blocks and u bolts for the rear, front beams, radius arms and bracket, drop brackets, and teh bushings for it all. i would be lookin for like 300 bucks probably

well i was thinkin of puttin it in the ranger along with the exploder seats but im not sure. give me a wekk or two when i get to doin it and ill let ya know. teh arm rest part is broke jsut to let ya know though

Which part the part on the rest or the thing thats bolted to the floor? Thanks Brandon B.

Dang...alright let me see if I can find one locally.
