I dont want to give prices as I know material price bounces around some what....but I will say he has realllly good prices.Has been around for 3 years or so now, over on dramarangers with out a single complaint from anyone. And that's amazing for that board.

He also has a few diffrent equal lenth kits, to meet the size of wallets can assume....from a econmy kit that uses the 2wd beam ends and keeps the ranger lug pattern, or one that uses the d44 beam ends and gives you fullsize brakes and all the goodies.

hmmm very nice. well im talkin to a guy out of L.A. in Cali that has a full camburg kit and seein if he will work with me on price if i drive out to get it. if it falls through i might have to hit dave up and see what he can do for me

If you don't mind me asking, how much did that kit run?

from Giant i believe its about 1700 bucks but i got it for 1300. its not at all a cheap kit but for what ill be doin in the desert it will work awesome. compared to a three or four link (if i bought one, not built one) its really cheap as those are about 3 to 5 grand if not more.

truck is comin along. finished plating the driver side framerail where the fuel, brake, and speedo cable are. painted it too for good measures. then ripped the old fuel lines out, put the flywheel and clutch on the motor and put the 2.8 motor mount brackets on the 4.0. Then i dropped her in the truck. from there i cut the old rad mounts out of the exploder and welded them in the ranger and mounted the rad and electric fan. put teh powersteering pump in and hooked it up to the gear box, put the belt on and pulled the wiring harness out of the exploder. boy do i have my work cut out for me there. PICS!

just finished weldin and paintin

Ehh yes and no on that, IMO most of the wiring that goes through the firewall is A-going to the computer or B-going to the fuse panel and or steering column. I know you probably hear this alot but take your time. Don't "half ass" the wiring, make sure you have good connections at the plugs, install all the grounds in the correct place, etc. I know i screwed my harness up when i did the cab swap on my 87 and i really payed for it.

yeah i will definitely be takin my time. from what i can gather right how none of the engine control wires run to the steering colum/fuse panel. Im gunna disconnect each wire where they either clip in the computer or fuse block, not cut wires unless to splice.

torsioned

yeah definitley look into camburgfor kits and what not. your torsion setup is teh way to go for an easier long travel kit, dont have to worry about cuttin out a coil bucket that is in the frame and then having to basically fill teh frame back in

You know I didn't think of it till now but how similar is the explorer column to the ranger column? Will the wiring and ignition from the explorer go on or could you swap the whole steering column? That would make your wiring much much easier i think.

i dunno, they look pretty similar but honestly im not too worried about it hooking up well to column and what not. all i need off the column is the ignition so it starts, from there im doin all new gauges (mostly mechanical ones) from autometer and switches for my HIDs, fuel pump, parker pumper, race radio, rear lights (amber, flashing amber, and blue) and back up lights. the inside wont have much but im goin to make it look good by keepin the factory dash, door panels, rubber flooring, and paint.

wow man nice build, looks like your going to be the guy that buys the stuff that i gock at on giantmotorsports.com haha. im guessing the deaver kit came with instruction but this page has a pretty good step by step guide. one of my friends who works at an offroad shop says that those shackle mounts tend to bend if you romp your truck hard, so i would keep at eye on them. goodluck on the build

thank you! not too sure what you mean by gock but im guessin stock?? aas for the instructions, the ones of desertrides were the one i was gunna use. i am a member there also. i will definitley reenforce the shackel mount then and fully box it to keep it from flexin as racing this thing will be more than just rompin it hard lol

Sweet build man, thanks for the link to this or else I probably would've never found it.

Unfortunately for me I am selling my Ranger to get a commuter car for college (3 hour drive each day, 5 days a week) but I'll be stickin around here to watch this build. Maybe I'll even get inspired to build up a 2wd prerunner later if I have more money.

How is a 4 cyl prerunner for commuting I wonder?
