So i got the truck out tonight just to run it a little... everything was going gooduntill some local idiot called the cops onn me.. grant it i accelerated thro first and second but never went over the speed limit... he followed me all around town untill finally i said screw it ill beat the hell out of him if he comes to my house... well 2 mins after i got home the cops show up and the classic line comes out... HAVE YOU BEEN DRINKING TONIGHT... so wat does my smart ass say... YEP HAD 2 CASES.... then he says been burning the tires havent you... so i walk over pop my hood and ask him if he goes to the drag strip any and if he knows the difference in tire smoke and oil burning... well needless to say the cop wasnt enthused so i calmed down and talked straight.... after 20 mins of standing in the cold he says well the truck called us cause you were driving sparaticly... then my smart attitude came back... i wouldnt of been except some dumb ass was following me around town... well he seen i was gettin pissed so he handed me my license and asked me 4 times wat my address was... needless to say i wasnt to happy and he new it so now i got to watch my ass everywhere i go cause some idiot decides to pick on a lowered truck running through 2 gears and then stopping

Man, after the first two questions I'd have told him to charge me with something or get off my property. I'd also have demanded to know who called me in, since in America we have the constitutional right to face our accusers.

i was so pissed i couldnt see straight... the guy that called me in was the one following me the bad part about it was he was the one that was leaving the bar not me im gonna go down to the police station on monday and talk to them

Sounds like you need to ease up on your attitude. Get used to it! People complain. I get it a lot with my 2wd Ranger. I guess the difference between my experiences and yours is that I'm pretty cool with the cop and 99% of the time they end up being cool back. There have been a few instances where I've gotten compliments on my truck in the end, too.

Oh, and you don't have to go over the speed limit to cause a nuisance or be ticketed. display of power, unnecessary acceleration, vandalism... there's plenty of ways to word a ticket for "goosin it". Just be cool with the cop next time, it'll pay off later in life.

yea my dad is a cop so i know wat answer their lookin for i just dont believe they have a right to pull you over and automatically accuse you of drinking.. plus i was already at HOME with the keys OUT of the ignition so theirfor they didnt even have a rite to get my license but i voluntarily gave it to them... by the keys out engine off me out of the vehicle even if i would of been drinking or speeding or anything illegal they could not give me a ticket cause all they had was a guy in a truck on the phone with them... so thats why i get smart with them i know the law enough to know when im not in the wrong and i wasnt...

My very best friend who I have known since childhood was a Green Berets and after his military service he became a police officer....He's 6'4", approx 235 lbs and built like a brick shit house..A very imposing figure but yet the nicest guy I have ever known...a real family man who has a wonderful wife and two grown kids now and even has a grandchild.

Him and I were having a couple of beers in in my backyard once and I asked him how he dealt with people being a cop...From going to houses on a domestic complaint to pulling people over. He told me that his attitude with everyone was the same. And that was

"Don't break my balls and I won't break yours"

He went on to say how every complaint had to be investigated and how most individuals understood that but every so often someone would get an attitude and start breaking his balls for no reason. He said he would always attempt to calm the person down but that some people just loved to break cops balls and he would tell those indivduals that he is just doing a job and wants to go home when it is over like everyone else..But some just would continue to break his balls and then they in turn would get their balls busted as well.

So I think that attitude is the best to have...

"Don't break my balls and I won't break yours"

Don't let it get to you...someone complained and they had to look into it. Yes, it sucks but it is not worth getting angry over it or to stay angry over it.

Tomorrow is a new day.

I'm usually pretty cool with the cops. If they aren't harassing me I try not to give them a hard time.

That said, I'd still have asked to talk to the guy who called me in, cop present if they want to be, and then told him to charge me with something or get off my property after those first two questions.

yes but for the rest of my trucks life it will be watched by cops around here and that sucks.. i just moved here 4 months ago and i know no-one where as i know everyone in my home town and nobody would do this their im not really mad at the cops its the jackass that followed me... cause ive went to jail for people following me before tryin to start shit and didnt want that again

I can understand your frustration with the jackass following you. But being your new in the area I still say just let it go and go about your business. BUT, if the same guy starts to follow you again then YOU call the cops on him....Don't stop and beat his ass cause it isn't worth it...YOU call the cops on his sorry ass. Let them deal with the fool.

You could always do what this guy did to get people off his case.

if the guy is following you all over town then he is a stalker, you an shoot stalkers.

This is tn dude. work him over with a 30 pound sledge. idk about elizabethton but down here in seymour, the cops dont care. they pull you over, do whatever they gotta and then smile and wave to you the next time they see you.

when i was buildin my 5.0 i would start it up in my driveway and 10 mins later i would have a cop in my driveway tellin me the neighbors are complaining about the noise. lol my neighbors hated that truck and they couldnt wait till they saw that thing pull into the road so they could call the cops on me. i made sure she was all registered and legal before it even seen the street. sure enough the first day i drove away with it, the cops were waiting at the bottom of the hill and they pulled me over. they were pretty cool about it. all they wanted to know is if it was legal and safe. i popped the hood for them, revved it up a little. they said it was a pretty cool truck just dont drive crazy. we bullshitted for a few minutes and that was the end of it. the moral of the story is, the cops are just doing their job and if you respect them, they respect you. as far as my neighbors go, i would make sure i had it in 1st gear at about 3000rpms when i got close to the house.....haha
