please help i have a 94 ranger extended cab 4x4 it has 131000 on it and when you push the 4wd high button ,sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't i replaced the 4wd button and 4wd shift motor with a used one but it is still doing it?? also the fog light button still light when you turn it on and every outside light works but the dash light including the heater control doesn't light. could this be the headlight switch what else should i look at,hot to test it thanks

Even though I have an 86 it has a 93 dash.I think the tail lights and the dash are on the same fuse so you know when the tail lights are out so you've checked that.Probably what I would check next is the dimmer in the back of the switch pull it out and check the voltage in the back of the switch if you can't see it should be in book.If you check the wrong wire here your going to send yourself on a wild goose chase.Next I would check where the wiring plugs into the back of the dash check source and connection. Can't help you with the 4x4 got the button on the dash but manual case just don't know.

did you service the shifter motor before putting in the used one?

The grease in those gets hard and sticky which can cause intermittent action.
