On my way to Wal-mart tonight

But then YOUR government decided first, people couldn't see blue very well, so blue dot tail lights must be dangerous and outlawed them in most places. Then YOUR government decided that blue lights got people's attention, so we better start using blue and red on all emergency vehicles. But since now blue isn't unusual, blue dot tail lights have no real safety value. They look neat, but are illegal most places.

that does sound like something our government would do :annoyed:

i usually smoke mine, but if u do it properly and dont go overboard u notice no difference in the brightness, and i live in the great communist state of nj, the land of the stupid ticket

U smoke 'em? Are they hard to light?:icon_rofl:

I like the smoked lights. Don't overdo it, and make it safe for other drivers. Your taillights are for other drivers to know your actions, not whether or not you, yourself, are braking.

haha i knew i guy that put it on so thick that it left cracks all the way across the lights and that was only way you could see the lights

I actually didnt put mine on that thick at all. I used 3 light light light layers of vht and it dried with cracks in it. I havent been able to figure out why or had the time to remove it yet. BUt Theres always a little difference if its on thick enough to see it. I dont like the 10 layers plus clearcoat method either. But lightly done or the removeable covers arent bad (as long as the dumbass dont leave velcro hangin out everywhere.

haha i wasnt talking about you but i do remember that happening now, but i got buddy that did it to his f150 that way, now the lights are on another truck at a car lot in town. i like the smoked tailight look and if done right it doesnt affect the visability

clearly you cant read :

I can read just fine, thanks.

Someone's not going to be able to see those ghetto-tint lights, and when they hit you, it's going to be you that pays for their damage because you intentionally reduced your visibility. Particularly if they point them out to the cop that answers the accident call. I know I damn sure would.

There's a reason that taillights are not dark-tint from the factory.

On my way to Wal-Mart tonight, I came up on a big Dodge Ram truck that looked like it had no tail lights, and I thought to myself "what a dumba**, running with no headlight on" when we came to the intersection where Wal-Mart was a Tennessee State Trooper blue lighted me to get in front of me and in back of the Dodge, well the Dodge "had" headlight on, he also "had" that night vision on his tail lights, and they where so dark you couldn't see the light, and couldn't see the brake light come on, SO I go in to the store, on my way out the State Trooper was in his car, and the guy was scrapping his tail lights to remove the night vision stuff, AND it was pouring down rain.

Goes to show you, some "upgrades" don't work too well.:icon_confused:

but it was funny to see this person in the pouring rain with a metal scrapper going to town on his lights in the rain.:icon_rofl:

I must be either sick or mean, or it's just my drugs causing this.:icon_thumby:

Robert

LOL I'm right there with ya! When I do up my Ranger, I'm going to have some bedsides that require the use of 2000 tail lights (on a 97) and I plan to go to some smoked LED tail lights but I'm not going to throw film on them like some sort of retard.

I just have to say this guy is a retard. Plus, it's probably so much easier to find some new taillight lenses at a junkyard than it is to scrape the film off. Again, RETARD! Most dodge drivers are :-P

In case you did not read... the cop MADE him scrape it off, because you couldn't see his lights at all! Exactly what I would have done in the situation, if he hadn't made him scrape it off, the guy never would have done a thing about it.

Finally someone gets pulled over for that crap!

i usually smoke mine, but if u do it properly and dont go overboard u notice no difference in the brightness, and i live in the great communist state of nj, the land of the stupid ticket

i dont think cops have the right to tell him to scrape it off. or tell some one to pull the window tint off. it is damageing your own property because you cant do either of those things on the spot and not tear upsomething. they should just give you the fix it ticket. you fix it later then show in court that you fixed it and move along with your day.

there is also a difference between actually smoking the tailight and spray painting it black, if you follow directions and smoke them correctly, there shouldn't be an issue with the authorities, however if your an idiot and decide to use semi-gloss black paint or similar then you should be pulled over and either fined or told to scrape them.
