'93 vs '97 Catalytic converter swap.

Before inspection, I note that my "new" '93 Ranger has had the cat removed and a straight pipe installed.

I assume that it will fail inspection because of this.

Will a '97 converter basically work? I know I'll have to provide some flange work

Same engine or bigger? I would say yes it will likely work at least as good as one of the "universal" cats...
