My dad had a one ton under his 78 f150 but it fit the gm pattern?then my gpa said it was an holds.so is it a 14 bolt or did Oldsmobile actually make an axle?

Here's a newsflash for you. Chevy, Dodge, and Ford 8 bolts up until I believe it was 2000 (?) Had an 8x6.5 bolt pattern so they're all interchangable. The newer 8 bolt fords have an 8x170mm metric bolt pattern

Be careful on that, '?? chev 8-bolt won't fit '91 f-250. The center hole is slightly too small. Also there can be differences in stud hole sizing.

97 was the last year of the standard bolt patter in fords. 99 and up is the metric
