Come the First of the year I am putting a 455ci BB olds in my 95 ranger .. should I make a complete build thread or just some pictures and yes I already have the engine .... here is a picture of me bringing it home .... the engine is a low compression engine only 8.5 to 1 I am leaving the engine pretty much stock with a cam and headers .... the numbers on this engine are 350 HP and 400 lbs of tq

Pretty good numbers for a 8.5 compression motor, wouldn't take much to wake it up to 400+:icon_cheers:

Are you puttin it in a 2wd street truck or your prerunner/4x4?

I've had a similar thought, but was thinkin more Buick, for the torqueness, and fact that the dist. is in the front.:icon_twisted:

DEFINITELY post progress!:icon_thumby:

it is 4x4 on 2.5 ton GM's here is a pic without the front tires mounted yet

i put one of those in a 70 Malibu when i was 15_16 had the fastest car in school all year didnt touch it right out of the scrap yard. preps and the irocs hated me lol.

Im assuming your buildin this motor either because you already have it like you said or you just want to be different but...

You could build a 460 stroker 514,521, 545 etc and make well over 600hp for muuuuuch less than a big olds..and youll be makin much more torque. Heck you could get a junkyard 460 block, find some doves, headers, a cam, 850hp and a victor, get it runnin and youl be ready fer the mud and have more than enough power.

and it would still be all ford hehe i jsut dont like to see crossbreedin lol

cool buiild either way

:icon_thumby:

I got the motor for free, my headers are free, my rebuild kit is free and my tranny is free so cross bread it is lol

Hells yeah, for free you can't beat it. Plus its different, and I like that. If I had the room for another project I wouldn't have passed up the 86 4x4 Ranger my buddy ended up scrapping and it would be sitting and waiting for one of my 455 Buicks. I look forward to watchin this build! :icon_cheers:

I've wanted to stuff a big Pontiac mill in one of my trucks......I love me an old v8 pontiac.

it is not an RBV, but we are almost done putting a 400 Pontiac BB in my brother in laws dodge ..next time I am over there I will take pics

I always thought it would be cool to shoehorn a pre emiss caddy 472 in a RBV, maybe a BII....

later,
Dustin
