I have read most all the form's and web pages i can find but can't get and info.... SO here what going on iam working on puting a 351W in a 99 ranger and can't find a oil pan that well work.. the block is out of a 84 Econline van. i don't know if any one has done a 99 ranger but ever thang out there stops at 97.. so iam kinda on my own.. just a little in tell on the front end it is a indepent front end with rack & pin steering...so if any one know's how to do this any and ALL help well be great..

i can't post a pic of it if i figer out how to i well post one so some one can see and help me out..

this is jsut a guess but the first place i would look is at the newer explorers. they had the same front suspension and had 5.0's from the factory.

302's/5.0's have different pans from the 351 to begin with. Even with the Explorer pan and the 5.0, depends on several other things to fit (suspensions). Would just guess any rear dual sump from a 351 might clear with a little heat and hammer work. Most doing the '98' and newer Rangers have stuck with the 5.0. You are going to have one hell of a time finding a set of headers or even stock exhaust manifolds to fit. Even with the older ones, it's a problem finding something that works good with the 351. Good luck!

The Explorer pan does not fit a 351W. Period.

I hope he is talking about the FRPP 351 swap pan, not sure that would clear the cross member either. Brian B. had some comments on that before.

making a custom pan. well cost to mush. i know a Explorer pan does not fit a 351W. i have a dual sump pan for the truck now. i have read the V-8 engine conversions form and printed it so i can read it more.. ever thang i have read stops at 1997 look like NO one has parts or has done any thang newer then 98+ and i know that BS... iam runing in to the cross member.. it sit's about 2+3 inch to high.. looking in to moveing the rack so i can some room.. don't thank it well work but it worth a try... i got the motor mounts for the web site (not know it was for 83+97) so theres some money gone. lol.. they don't work.. fond out the hard way.. so now iam thatnking of puting a plate on the front of the block as a motor mount see a few guy have done that.. i don't know it well pass tech at the track... but THANK YOU for all the info guy....

All the swap parts stop at '97' for a good reason, other than the motor mounts on the coil spring suspension, the Explorer bolts in and clears everything If you thnk the cost of a custom oil pan is too much, a good set of custom headers going to run to $1200-1500 for the 351 in that chassis. I think there are at least 6 in Mich, quite a few out
East and several down in Texas that have done the 5.0 swap (know I've left out propably 15-20 others).

Did you even bother to read this up in the Tech area?

How will it cost too much? All you would need to do is calculate the volume of the pan it is supposed to have and then design one what will fit the truck and keep the same volume or close to it. With a few hours, some metal, and a welder you could be done in no time.

ty mac i didn't see that in the Tech area.. i have read most of all the tech stuff here and ever other page i can find.. i got a hold of moroso on makeing a pan they wanted $1500.00 for one. OO hell no.. i well bet the sh*t out of a new one be for i pay that..i know i my have to get custom headers.. iam still a ways form that.. BBK makes some that look like they my work not to sure yet..

for me to make one well i thank i can but iam not that good of a welder so iam not to sure.. but it some thang iam looking in to..

sory to look like iam not doing the leg work i have been reading for a few weeks now and asking Q to ever one... i can only read so mush and better then 1/2 of what i have read don't work for what i have going on... so iam asking Q to you guy's the guy that have done this befor..i see that to be the best way to lean and find out what i need to know and some thang i don't..

so i THANK YOU all for the time you spend telling me what to do. and how to get it done..i know your time is some thang i can never give back to you. i TY for giveing me some of your time.. i won't TRY to ask any Q and are dummmm.... but all i can do it TRY...

All you had to do was use the Explorer mounts. The only thing different in a 351 swap is the headers (maybe, maybe not in your case) and the oilpan

The Explorer mounts only work with the torsion bar suspension. With the coils you have to use the ones that Brian B. designed., picture below.

Mouse, what do you plan on running for the electical system (computer and such)? How about all the front dress (mounts for the PS and alternator)? Before buying anymore parts that don't work or fit, I'd sit down and address every item involve in the swap. Do you have the PAT's system? Want to keep your speedometer and tach functions? List gets long but needs to be looked at.
Dave - have pictures of what the stock headers look like to clear the front suspension.
