OIL PAN HELP PLEZZZ some one

Think we all wish we knew what your intentions were, to go carb's and gut the wiring.
to contact for the plans (he does not do any fabricating off them) is
brian.blackburn@sbcglobal.net
He lives a little bit West of you and works for Ford, he's another one that has done the late swap.
Here's a shot of how the stock Explorer header have to come up in front to clear suspension. Another guy in Michigan is doing the 351 swap and he pulled the front fenders off so he could see what all need clearance. Maybe going with headers outside the frame would be an option - you are really into un-known territory

well iam makeing a street/strip truck..i went Carb becuse I have a motor siting here and was already set up for a carb..((was going to go in the 32 high-boy my and the old man built)) wireing just figered to rewire the truck would be a little EZer then trying to figer out the stock wireing.. look like it would be a pain in th As* ya know!! I changeing out the speedo and ever thang, there is not a thang stock in or on the truck other then the Body.. I have ever thang but the cab off the truck and have been thank of takeing that off.. but i can work with it on..

i have looked at going outside the frame with the header's they seen a few guy that have done it but they were on darg raceing truck.. but still a option iam looking in to.. the motor mounts form a 2000 exlporer look like they work..look close to the stock one's off the truck.. now i just have to get or make a adpter for then fram to the block..

TY i well e-mail him and see what he can do for me.. and ty for the pic on the headers they look like they would work... they are stock header's HUMMM i have to rember that...ty mac

The Explorer mounts only work with the torsion bar suspension. With the coils you have to use the ones that Brian B. designed., picture below.

So what does a coil spring suspension have to do with replacing a 5.0 in an Explorer with a 351W? Same mounts for both engines.

It's the swaping an Explorer motor into a Ranger where you have the problems between the coil and torsion bar suspension. In the Ranger there is a frame difference between the two, just adds more fun in knowing what swaps and what doesn't. Remember seeing what GregR said about fitting in his DOHC motor in? He said it would have been a lot easier with the coil spring suspension for the extra room. Don't want to think why Ford did some of the different things.

Ok, now I gotcha. I thought they all went to torsion bar suspension in 98. Ain't looked under the hood of these years yet.

well i have loked in to the Explorer motor mounts and they look them same.. there a 1/2 nich higher then the stock v6 ones and the locter pin is on the other side..(would have to drll a new hole)..read a few diffent forms last night and they sayed they would work if i got them form a 2000 Explorer.. went to the auto part store and looked at a per... iam not to sure if they well but damm close to looking like they well..

i can't see the diffents on what the suspension would have to do with the moter mounts!! were there mounted to the frame, ya i can see how that would go... but not the mount alone..

wow puting a DOHC motor in a ranger that had to been a fun swap.. but sttl reading and looking around for more info....i can say iam leaning alot .... now if i can lean to spell.lol

I think we are talking about two different items here. First of all, if you had the torsion bar suspension the stock Explorer mounts/plates would work. With the Ranger and the coil spring suspension, the frame is different, requiring different engine plates (the picture I posted) and the use of the 4.0 SOHC rubber insulators to set the motor at the right position. Looking damn close don't work if your off by an inch. You're asking for advice, giving you the best I can.

oo ok now i under stand.. you are helping me out alot more then you know.. and ever thang is good advice....

i thank no matter what mount i go with i have to put a plate on it.. it looking that way..

looking at the plate you posted.. it look's like it well bolt right the the block should i have a rubber mount there?? kinda like a old stock one.. or just a rubber one on the frame?? don't thank i should go with solid mounts..well shake the truck apart it is a ford ya know ..lmao

Yep that picture mounts to the block and you use the rubber isolator mount from the 4.0 L between the plate and the frame.
