oil level sensor connector

Hi all,

So I have been desperately searching for the oil level sensor connector for my 4.0L OHV but it's almost impossible to find. I know its a discontinued part and all that noise so yeah.

OE Motorcraft part numbers:

WPT-237 or 3U2Z-14S411-TA

Any suggestions on where to find a new one? Scrap yard is last resort because I'd have to travel 80 miles to a lot with these trucks - I've already called around to local salvage yards.

Also if there are any specs you can offer on the size of the pin in the sensor, then I'd be fine making my own connector. Any DIY experience in making a connector for this sensor is also welcome!

Other than a scrap yard / junkyard, maybe try Craigslist... I often come across people parting vehicles out on CL (search: "Ford Ranger parting out" or "Ford Explorer parting out").

I can't seem to confirm for sure, but I think chances are good other Ford trucks or vans from about that same timeframe would have that same sensor and connector on it as well (it'd be worth checking into anyway).

Wow! For that price, I'll disable mine if it goes bad. It actually has a bare spot in the insulation right now. The dip stick works fine as long as you look at it periodically.

HeatShrink/ElecTape is cheap enough.

Yeah I'd be hittin' up a junkyard somewhere rather than pay that as well. Nice though that it actually tells you what vehicles its for... That opens up the number of vehicles you can look for it in a junkyard.

Yeah this seems to be a very popular find item lol. Everything sold out or the salvage yards near me don't have any left. I've been considering a 3D printed model, high heat resistance obviously. Need to do some research on the material sciences involved. Thank you fro all the info and the links to more parts vendors. Cheers everyone!
