Nor Cal chat thread

As long as they go in tight (really tight) that should be good. Your right. The pinion could come out just a little but I think its pretty good right there.

On the front axle. I made the carrier tighter to the pinion. If you live in the snow or drive in the snow I would do the same to the front as you did for the rear.

You are from Aubern so I assume at times you drive in 4x4 in the winter.

I think I am going to leave it for now, move on to my rear axle, then come back and see if I have any patience left over to try and fiddle with it. Correct me if Im wrong, but wont the carrier preload get a little bit tighter with new bearings? I just don't want to press the new bearings on, and then not be able to get the carrier in...

That makes a lot of sense, but I don't do much driving in 4x4 at anything over 15 mph. Auburn doesn't see much, if any, snow, so I only get snow on pavement if I drive 1+ hours away (almost never).

Thank you very much for the help, I appreciate it greatly.

It SHOULD get tighter with new barring. Mine didn't buy very much if at all though. Good luck. what gears are you putting in there?

alright fellas before summers over i want a norcal meet. up in auburn, grass valley, whatever. even if its 4x4 only ill ride with someone. maybe another camping trip?

September 21st-22nd i am doing a trip for my b day as usual. i am hoping to have my truck done by than

family trip or free to tag along in my ranger?

If I don't go to fordyce than free to tag along in your ranger. Just like the trip to bowman last year

Even if you do fordyce I might be able to talk a body into taking his yota.. what's everyone think of these leaf spring 4 links?

They flex good but the leafs break a lot. Most guys have to carry spare leafs

I think its called a half elliptical, and I've seen one in action. They flex really well, never did ask about breaking springs but it is a CHEAP easy way to "2 link" a vehicle.

You just make a sandwich mount for the front and rear. Then cut the springs in half. Mount shocks and done.

Edit: guy in pic did it different but still its the same idea

Sent from the road while ignoring traffic

quarter eliptical. yeah they break a lot... and when they break they do it biiiiiiig.

anyone know of any short term cash work? got some time off from work. need to keep the cash flow going.

My buddy did a buggy leaf set up on his yota. He could put his left front tire and right rear tire on a 55 gal drum and the other two would be on the ground.
It was a trail rig not street legal. He said it was scary going down hill without it pinned up though cuz it leaned so far forward.

Not really knowing the pros and cons, it kinda seems like all the hassle/cost of coils, so why not just do coils?

It's unique. Why do what every one else is doing? Play with something different. The cost is substantially lower. If you've already got springs then you can build everything else cheaper than buying all the 3,4 link Heims and DOM.

Anyone have it know where i can find a Dana 50 ttb (yes 8lug) for cheap? For a friends project. Please let me know thanks
