it is NOT an overhead cam engine-it is a two valve pushrod motor

that is what I am thinking but where do they bleed off at?

I am not a 4.0 expert so I'll defer to the experts on that. specifically the lifters & pushrods.
the last shaft rocker I touched was a long time ago.
the pictures of 4.0 heads clearly show the oil hole for the shafts at the center mount.

however, in a 3.0 and lots other engines the oil bleeds up thru the pushrod, then thru the hole in the rockers to splash lube the rest of the rocker.
when I pre lubed my 3.0 it didn't take long for the oil to emerge from the rockers.

and I'm still trying to figure out how that mechanic managed to install pushrods in an over head cam engine

We should find the mechanic and ask him.
