The HF boxes are the only ones that sell a box for a reasonable price and have a 5” top drawer.

Huskey, Kobalt, Craftsman, all have shallower top drawers. Can stand up deep 1/2” sockets.

Also not a huge fan of the soft close toolbox drawers, they tent to make all my stuff slide to the front.

I've had my US General series 3 72" box and top cabinet for a little over 3 years now. I got the side box for it a little over a year ago. Other than a couple of broken drawer latches, I'm real happy with it. I expected that the drawer slides would be the first problem, especially on my sockets drawer but so far they've been fine. I probably use my tool box way more than the average home mechanic would... but much less than a professional tech.

My only regret is not having enough wall space to add either another side box or the locker like PJ did. Also I dig the white box... I prefer blue I guess but white would have been high on my list.

slide to the front with soft close or back with latches, whatever, both are annoying.

Come to think of it I do in fact like that tall top drawer on the bottom box, that's where my sockets are because I could stand 1/2" deep sockets upright...

I n3ed to buy another 1/2 to 3/8 adapter for the breaker bar. Got two days out of the harbor freight one this time. It snapped right off while tightening lug nuts.

I previously had one of those black colored ones for an air ratchet. It last about a year but snapped off tightening stuff on my son's lift for his wrangler

How about some 1/2 drive sockets? I've had best luck that way...

^ that is the best 1/2 to 3/8 adapter I've ever used. I have a few of them but the one I usually grab has survived for quite a few years on a Milwaukee high torque impact.

Just found this it he old garage. ?

I love it! I have one, but I think it’s slightly different. Mine is a ratcheting combo Phillips and straight screwdriver, with a little flip thing in the handle that changes the direction just like any other ratchet.

I worked in a hardware store as a kid, literally 55 years ago, and I have one from that time. I’ve actually filed both the flat side and the Philips side a couple times over the years so it grabs the screws tight. I chipped off a quarter of the flat blade, probably 10 years ago, and now I have a couple of more modern replacements, but it’s still my go to if I can get away with the chipped blade..

I just never remember to buy half drive sockets till I actually need it and the wheels are off.

I did happen to find a half drive socket that fit the lug nut tool Wednesday so I could move the wheels around chasing a balance issue. I need to go to discount tire today and get the one tire rebalanced now.

When I got these tires new a few months back, one had no weight and they told me it was perfect and didnt need it. Its been fine but this rotation shows it has apparently worn enough to require a weight now as on the front, it hops slightly. On the rear, you dont feel it so I was able to make our trip to Omaha from corpus and will get it balanced today.

This was our trip.

Help!

This is an attempt to avoid a new tool…

I have a Harbor Freight Warrior (orange accent) 4 1/2 inch angle grinder. It has a square orange switch button on the outside, and then a clear plastic slide about 4 1/2 inches long, then 90° on the inside, tgat1/2” tab pushes a click on/click off push button mounted along the center line of the tool.

That clear plastic slide, starting at the orange button, is about 4 1/2 or 5 inches long, with about a half inch L on the internal end, that activates the actual electric switch. It’s flat under orange button, there’s a little wave that takes it closer to the center, then it flattens out again, and has the angled end.

It’s broke! The little angle snapped off. The tool works perfect perfectly and I like it because it is light weight. Does anybody know where I can get that piece? Harbor Freight does not sell it.

I love that angle grinder because it is lightweight, perfect for my old bones and damaged hand using a cut off wheel. If it was any other tool, I’d just put a switch on the cord. But I think that would be about as safe as putting a switch on the cord of the circular saw with the blade guard wedged open….

Does anybody know where I can get that slide? Or does anybody have a different practical solution? I know they’re cheap, but I actually have a high quality ancient angle grinder, half again heavier, but having the two is ideal for the things I do.

Going to try to plastic weld that clear slide, and then put epoxy around it, but I don’t have a lot of faith in that repair…

Sounds like the perfect use of a 3d printer... Or find another one broken in a different way to use for parts.
