didnt see much on anything besides twin I-beam so i figured id post here.

ok so i have this truck i bought, its got a little work done on it already; total chaos control arms so it has long travel in the front, it has a locker in the rear (2 wheel dr) front and rear fiberglass fenders but all stock besides that.

my plan is to make it perform a little better while making it reliable.

it has 33" tires and the power steering pump is loud, whiney lol.
when i hit the brakes going slow i can hear it clunk and stuff, and the back is super stiff.

i want to soften the back up pretty quick and was wondering if i could get any recommendations on parts, im new to this so anythinmg is appreciated. looking to learn

got some cool links on 64" leaf swap that look awesome

curious about what i could do in the front to make it a little bit more legit.

I would do the 64" leaf spring swap if I were you. I'm no expert but I don't think you have full on "long travel" you just have upgraded control arms, which may increase travel some. There's a lot that goes into making it long travel. The steering pump is a Ranger thing, they all do it lol. I would fix your camber issues and get some new tires. When you let go of the wheel while driving does it pull at all? Looks like you may have alignment issues as well, especially in the second picture. Something doesn't look right to me there. Check out some of the builds on here like 06RangerXLT, Heavyfire14, and doyouquaxu. Those are just some names just off the top of my head. I'm sure some of the pre runner guys will chime in. Your truck looks good though!

Oh and for your brakes, mine was doing that as well so I just replaced the pads and rotors and all is good now. Just a thought

you dont have long travel, its a midtravel kit wich is more for a dd/prerunner. i have a 5.0 kit with custom uni uppers and i can still go 60 thru the dezert. and no offence but i would get a better bumper built cause that one ruins the look of your truck. it looks pretty good.

can you get a shot of the rear springs? i wanna see what you got in there, and do you know what kinda shocks you have? cause depending on the shock you can have them revalved for a harder or softer ride.

oh and another thing i would do is do a 2.0 shock upgrade on your front end (
if you dont already have one) so you can utilize a fox 2.0x8" fox resi shock. but its a really good start on a nice truck man, keep us updated!

64's can be a good spring if done right, but for you i think you should do some deavers or national leaf springs IMO

Damn I can barley go 60 on the street haha. I wish my 4x4 was easier to work on for pre ruuner stuff...

I wanna thread jack this so bad and just ask you a bunch of questions but I won't haha. Maybe I'll do some searching and start my own thread.

im thinkin the shocks are just some cheap ones. all white and i dont see a name on em.

i saw something about the deavers, is that a better way to go? ill have to read more about them.

also have to look up the 2.0 shock upgrade. need to learn what it all is lol.

and thanks for the replies!!!

@Heavyfire14 lookin at ur build thread, and your bumper is prime. im gonna try to build something up, i used to be an ironworker so have plenty of experience welding and fabin but in march 2011 paralyzed my left arm so itll take me a while lol

ok so for the rear suspension i would do deavers and flip the rear shackel hangers (very easy) and it looks like you already have the spring plate shock mounts wich will save you 100-150 bux... yea those shocks arnt gonna be ideal for a prerunner haha i would get either 2.0x14 or 2.0x16 fox remote resovior shocks and get a bedcage built too.

and as for the 2.0 upgrade i have pics on my build thread of what it looks like (its in my last post)

oh and can you post more pics of your front suspension setup from differnt angles? i jus wanna see exactly what you got. and sorry to hear about your arm

haha jus ask on my build thread

Ok cool.

Just do process of elimination. Or take it to the shop and have them do a full inspection on it. May be useful.

What do mean by paralyzed? Like you can't move or feel it? What happened, if you don't mind me asking.
