I'm hitting the age of adulthood and my dad bought me an epic 1992 Ford Ranger. It's only a 2wd though..... Problem is, I suck at driving shift. :nopityA: Anyhow, I'm learning. This truck is pretty fun to drive, even with some bits to fix up. Soon to be off roaming with it. Any good trails known for northern Florida? I'd seriously appreciate that, also places that are good to pick up extra parts!:headbang: Thanks!

Howdy and welcome to TRS.

It won't be long before you shift without even knowing it. I do most of the time.

As for parts, if your close enough, check out Pull-A-Part. Mostly CHEAP.

Yes, Welcome

Shifting will become 2nd nature with time, but what you should really practice is starting off facing uphill.
I know hills are few and far between in FLA., lol, but still good to feel confidant when some MORON pulls up close right behind you at an uphill stop light.

Start with easy grade and just use the clutch pedal, no gas, so you get the feel of how to "feather" the pedal to avoid stalling or "the big JERK" :).
Once you can hold it you will start to get the feel for it and adding the gas pedal will be easy.

2x, lubing the throttle pivot can help too. If it's sticky your pedal can turn into an on/off switch

Welcome to TRS~!

My suggestion would be to have a third leg added to your body. Not a difficult process and totally reversible once you feel more comfortable driving with a clutch...there is a company in FLA doing this procedure and operators are standing by to take your call...

1-888-ADD-A-LEG...

If you don't want to go that route...practice, practice, practice...
