New doubler 1350/1354 kit?

Theres a little misinformation in this thread but it has been years since info was a click away.

Don't think I'm some fanboy, back when I wheeled I ran a d&d based on cost, for my setup I had double low for $350 (kit) plus $50 to have the fill in plates welded and parts I had laying around. Sure can't do that today, the d&d kit alone is $500 now. Even with 3.55s I could out crawl a single case rig with 5.13s.

The stubbler isn't a hack off the side of a t case bolt up a plate and you got double low kinda thing. Actually it's easier. A LOT of R&D went into this, it was done with hand drawn prints, and a manual mill. Old school :headbang: like the inventor. Though I hear times have changed and there is bling bling cad, cnc and serious manufacturing support for this potential go round.

This is what you get when you buy a stubler

After installation you only need to fab a shifter for the rear case shorten & lengthen drivelines. "Might" need to swap to an aerostar speedo cable.

I Don't have any knowledge of the behemoth as far as length goes, edit: (it's 7" long) back then the stubbler was the shortest one available at 5.75" d&d 6.5"ish.

I definately want one, I like the idea for use as a daily driver I can still have 3.55s and out crawl 5.13s??? That means I can get great mpgs in the city and tear shit up in the country, and never compromise.. I'm down but 900$ seems a bit steep for 500$ I could see everyone buying a kit

It's worth the money.

3.96x2.48x5.13=50.38 to 1

3.96x2.48x2.48x3.55=86.46 to 1

Also keep in mind the higher the ratio of r&p gear set, the smaller the pinion gear, Potential weakness.

I'm not suggesting everyone keep the factory gear ratio my clutch hated the 35s with 3.55s OD would have been useless had I had one. But in my build a doubler was a better investment than dumping money into ttb gears.

you of course have to hunt down the donor case as typical for this type of product.

I thought the case was supplied with this particular unit (didn't he have to machine some part of it internally or something? Been so long since I've seen the inside of one). This makes the $900 price tag a lot less appealing I think. :sad:

Yeah, as 901 mentioned, a doubler isn't really a substitute for proper axle gears (especially if it'll be used on the road at all). Too-tall gears will hurt your MPG just as much (if not more than) too-short gears (not to mention it puts a lot more stress on your t-case outputs and driveshafts)
I have the D.D. doubler and 5.13s in mine and it literally can idle up pretty much any rock (with 3.55s it wouldn't do that).

pic not showing up?

yes the stubbler includes the modified reduction front case half.

Not trying to come off like a know it all cause there ain't much I know, just want to make sure people aren't discouraged about the price and understand what the stubbler actually is.
I really want to see these back in production, in a year or so I'll be looking for one. d&d is mia, there have been a few broken shafts. The benefits of a behemoth strong box would be wasted putting a rbv case behind it, 1 known to me issue with a stubbler and the owner admitted to slacking on maintenance.

Ok, I see the pic now.
Cool deal then :cool:
