So I'm about to get new tires for my '99 Ranger, and just wanted to get some advice. My tire size is 245 75 R16. I currently have Toyo Open Country A/T's on there now, and I was just gonna get the same kind. Is that a good idea, or should I get something else? I've talked to a few local places, and have heard Michelin, Hancook, and Bridgestone as good options as well. Any suggestions, or advice could really help, as this is the first tire change I've done since I got my Ranger (bought it used in '06). Thanks a lot!

A month and a half ago I bought a set off Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor tires in that size for my Ranger. I'm very happy with them so far. Pretty quiet ride and great wet traction. I've only had them for 650 or so miles but there is no treadwear yet. Expensive tires though, at $150 each.

i have never had a bad thing to say about bfg's.... at's or mt's

I love my KM1 MT's, they ride very good and are freaky quiet for what they are.

Is this a off road truck or daily driver?

im not sure if it is still available in your size but one of the best all around truck tires ive ever seen is the uniroyal liberator, i had a customer come in to replace them and i looked at the paper work and they had been on there 90 some odd thousand miles. if your looking for a tire that is a little more aggressive but still has good onroad manners the bfgoodrich at KO cant be beat. if your looking something a little cheaper the goodyear wrangler is also a good option as it has decent grip, fairly quiet ride, and wears evenly in most cases.

i have a couple years expereince selling and servicing tires and those are three of my favorites to this day.

The best tire depends a lot on your driving habits and what you use the truck for.

Swampers are awesome for off-road traction but with the exception of the SSR, they tend to not like constant road use.

I do a lot of on-road driving with my trucks for work, but I also have a need to get off the road on muddy jobsites and back on the road without getting stuck. I don't like to run MT (mud terrain) tires because they tend to be noisy, expensive, and wear down quick. I also don't like BFG AT tires because there is a lot of clay around here and those nice looking tires can turn into big chocolate doughnuts in a hurry. Instead when I go to a tire shop, I tend to have little brand loyalty (it seems like the tires that I like and that do me right always somehow become "unavailable" the next trip to the tire shop). So I look for something in my budget with an aggressive AT pattern - I'm talking I look for something that is about as close to a MT tire as you can get and not actually be one.

My Ranger I ran some Remington Rimfire XT tires for my winter set and loved them. Wanted to get some on my nice rims when I needed summer tires but nobody sells 'em anymore around here. Then I ran some Sport King Radial AT tires on the Ranger. Nearly 50k hard miles and they still have probably 6/32" over the wear bars. Only problem is two of the tires got trashed. Ranger needs a core support, radiator an some other stuff so I just have some junky spares on it for now.

My F-150 I put some Nexen Roadian ATII tires on it last winter and it has performed great. Not quite 10k miles on them yet though but I've been happy. I'm running 31x10.50x15 tires on it, not sure I'd want that tread pattern in anything much smaller (the voids between tread blocks get smaller with smaller sizes).

If you want to do trail riding and mostly dd on a set of tires...get BFG KO tires. I am on my second set of 33x12.5x15's and I love them. Great for trail riding and great for dry, wet, and just great all around traction on the streets as well. If you want to do a bunch of mudding then these are not for you. I have never had any issues with the KO tires. They hold air better than any brand of tire I have ever owned.....period!!! I have never had a set of tires that I brag about until I used the KO tires.

I'm considering these..
