Hey guys, I'm getting ready to order all of my rebuild parts either tomorrow or the next day but I'm having trouble tracking down valve springs and retainers. I'm getting a comp cam 280h which has .460 valve lift. Does anyone have recommendations For where to buy springs and retainers together. Also I'm lookin for drop in/no mods needed springs. All I can find is speedway's set but they don't have the retainers I need for stock valves.

Whatever comp.sells. Their superstocks or whatever they call them.

I've been digging around on their site but wasn't really sure exactly what I was looking for. I'll just give them a call tomorrow. Thanks mike.

Speedway was the one that I was looking at for springs and i am almost positive they had retainers for stock vavles/keepers but now i can't find them anywhere on their site. I was just looking at motorsports of Kansas city's website and they have some springs for stock retainers/keepers but they don't have the lift specs listed so I'm gonna call them in the morning. Possibly will be calling speedway and comp as well. I'll report back with what i find.

Just called motorsports of Kansas city. They have direct drop in springs that handle .525 lift. Their website is kinda hard to find. I'll post a link in a little for future reference of anyone that might be looking for the same thing.

Its good you found springs, but if you plan on upgrading cams later, you have to remember the stock setup is only good for .460" lift before the retainer hits the valve seal.

Try lunati. I ran into this same issue and called comp. They said they do not sell springs for that engine. Found that lunati sells cams, lifters, springs, retainers, keepers, and even followers. I called and they say there springs are drop in replacements.

Thanks xupd18ckd. I bought springs from motorsports of Kansas city (the link above) and I believe lunati is actually what it was that they sent me. They said they didn't carry the specific one for my cam setup anymore cuz they only build solid lifter setups but they told me the springs for the solid lifters will work as long as they measured out to a specific range which I don't recall the numbers but I put one on, measured it and it landed in the middle of the range. I've got my motor all built now but I have to wait for another paycheck to get the last few goodies to fire it up. Everything seems to rotate smoothly without any binding or interference issues though.
