and the whole int. with the exp. sunvisor, and exp. dome ligh and A pillar o shit grips out of the 04 donor truck.. I'm kinda proud of it. cosidering when I got the truck It had a dash and seats with a broken console lid, no mirrors and a broken rear slider.(I needed something to replace the SHO that was cheep and $2300 is cheap) sorry about the pics being sideways I rotated them in photobucket. Not sure why they are not rotated here. and the 87 will come in the next post. Not sure of photo count.

The 87stx with SOHC

Well I started the truck as a V8 swap due to Emisions around here, I decided to go with a 4.0 and trans out of 04 4x4 rollover I found on CL. almost cheaper than a rebuilt 4anld(or what ever that shitty french designed trans is)
This the way she sat with the prerunner fenders and bumper (the bumper is just sitting there for looks it will be higher once it welded up.also sorry taken with my old phone)

the Old 2.9 still running strong in my nephews truck with out a tick even. I think the secret to the tick is he romps the shit out of the motor.

I planed on taking the HAVC and Dash out of the 04 to plac in the 87. So IO had to cut large hole in the fire wall for the blower motor. SO here is my patch plate.

With the blower motor and HVAC system all place. I was able to paint and install the 04 dash. I did have to make a plate to go over the pass airbag. due to airbags deployed in the rollover.

with all of the dash and hvac in installed I was able to install all the wiring and motor. I decided to use all the wiring out of the donor from the taillight to the head light.

and this little shot is to show that you can haul almost a whole ranger in the bed of a 6' box of another ranger. only thing not in there is the box. and rear axle.

The truck is almost done. just needs the brakes bleed. Basicly I have a 20year old truck with 50k on it due ot the fact I used all the drive train expt. the front axle. and all the wiring is also from the 04. also for the steering I used the steering shaft from a 97 worked perfect. I'm sure I will be flamed for the SOHC and not a v8. But now its diff. and also I now have a OBD2 for emmisons sake. No more sniffer for me. pull in get scanned and drive out.

Looks really good, don't worry about getting flamed for a 4.0 swap instead of a v8. You did what suits you best and thats what matters. How did the dash fit in the cab? Did you have to do a lot of modding or did it fit in pretty easily?

wow... mad props on the 87. looks great, id like to see some better pics though. did you finish up the interior?

the hardest part to get the dash to fit was the A/c and blower motor. they are totally diff. from the origanal. but it looks so good. and the cool thing is that it fit perfect once the a/c was installed only thing I needed to install to secure was a couple brackets made of angle iron.

Kunar I will be finishing the int. As soon as I can. But at this time I waiting for the bucket seat out of my first car(84 shitcort) to come back from colo. then I can recover them and get this thing finished.

keep us updated, this is one of my favorite builds i have ever seen.

hey thats pretty slick with the newer dash in the 87.

And don't feel bad about the 4.0sohc vs the 5.0l. in stock smog forum the 5.0L's of the 90's kinda suck for what they put out and suck in fuel IMO.

I know my 94 f150 only got 10-11mpg and was a dog for sucking that much fuel. ws also on 33's with 4.10;s

No Sorry all but it got placed on the back burner, for a couple months now. but I should be getting back to it after feb14. you know the gf birthday, thanksgiving, xmas, new years, superbowl, then v-day. and the snow is falling up north, So almost all my weekends are full of skiing or holiday partys.
only thing really done as of late, Is new bedsides and a new rear tube bumper with a hitch. on my 02.

It was not all that hard after cutting the big ass holes in the firewall it went pretty easy, Just swap the motor mount plates from the 2.9l and that will line up all the trans. holes and then I placed the ECU in a box in teh firewall.
