My truck won't crank up

Well, if you had a swap in mind I would have pressed the issue of buying your 2.3. I'm looking for one to rebuild the bottom end but haven't been able to find one in Canada (Ontario) as of yet.

You're probably too far from me to consider taking it off your hands, but I'm sure you could sell it on here if you want to unload it...you'd be surprised how many people want a good 2.3...

I would say that if you jumped the relay, and the pump works, then your problem is after the relay, or a bad ground.

Ironically enough, if your ignition switch has corrosion in it, it can actually not fire up the pump as it should. I say this because the pump should turn on when you turn the key to the "ON" position. From the "ON" position, the pump should have already primed the fuel line so you could start your truck when you turn the key to "START."

Also, check either your clutch interlock switch (manual trans) or your neutral safety switch (auto trans). Either one of those switches, if they are bad, would keep the truck from starting as well.

I think the injectors are not working. My thoughts are that the is nothing wrong with the fuel pump or the injectors I think either a sensor or something in the computer is telling them not to cut on, I've been told that it may be the crankshaft position sensor but normally that would cut off the fuel and ignition. But I still have ignition.

By the way, the Crankshaft Position Sensor is only for your ignition. The fuel in the engine is regulated by the fuel pressure regulator, which in turn draws its' vacuum from the EGR system.

In my '88 the I had one or more of the small ground wires that go to the neg. batt terminal come out while driving. This took out the fuel pump and the injectors. I would see if the injectors are getting power at all and go from there.

My truck has the same problem has no power to pump when key is on only when cranking do you have power but no main power to pump when key is on position i change fuel pump crank and cam sensors and swapped fuel relay it has spark and will run on starting fluid any thoughts of what it could be.
