My Son-in-Law needs help!

Update: His incision is 95% healed--but he has to keep it covered/germ-free....

and he started chemo.....and has been sleeping about 20 hours a day...

he says that the chemo literally wears him out for a week......hopefully the treatment won't drain his energy all the way to the next treatment!

we won't know if he actually "feels" any better until he starts getting some enrgy back---hopefully by Tues. or Wednesday......

Glad to hear the healing of the incision. He'll stay in my prayers for all of the rest.

Poor, guy. I know what he is going through. My little sister had breast cancer and 2 of our friends that my wife went to high school with had breast cancer. One of our friends is starting chemo next week. Got to spend time with her as much as we can. Life is so frail. Doesn't take much to throw it out of wack!!! Our family's and friends are what hold us all together.

Ain't it the truth!!!

Update: We'll make a trip to son-in -law's this weekend/waiting on the highway crews to clear the roads first...they have a little damage to the roof of their patio/a few panels missing...

and he still feels too weak to do any climbing on ladders...so I'll let him tell me what needs to be done(the same damage happened during hurricane Katrina--so he'll know all the tricks of reinstalling roof panels)

next week (Tuesday) he gets another chemo treatment for his liver (they said that his intestines look/doing really good after having some of it removed &
spliced back together)

now...if that liver will just start responding...they're giving him some strong doses to start with...rather than starting with low doses.

Update: he got his 2nd round of chemo(plus he wears the chemo pump for 48 hours....)

I'm so proud of him for dealing with all this...............

He's tough as nails....and got TWO belly buttons now :icon_rofl: ...the incision healed up and looks eggzakly like a 2nd belly button---oughta be a girl magnet at the beach :yahoo:

but seriously,,,he's tough as nails...went to work the next day for half a day...he'll have to see if this round of chemo knocks him back onto the couch for a week like the first round did.....

Still wishing him the best. He is a fighter!!!!

Still praying. Thanks for keeping us updated.

YAY! So happy to hear that DG. I love hearing things like this, thanks for the update.

On a side note... when you said he has 2 belly buttons it reminded me of a buddy of mine. I don't remember what the doctors removed, but they had to make an incision near his rectum. He told us "hey guys, I have dual exhaust now". I never laughed so hard in my life.

Update: My S.I.L. has been doing O.K. on the "Introductory" Chemo transfusions so far.....

O.K........meaning he can work only for a few hours/a couple days a week at his office....(good thing he transferred from the "field" to the office a while back).....

the rest of the time he has to stay in his house.....

BUT......Monday the docs are going to increase his chemo "dosage" about 30%......and they will see how he handles it......

We're hoping it doesn't "knock him for a loop"..................

One of the things that kept me positive during my breast cancer adventure was that my family was there for me.

Did you have the chest-port taken out yet?

S.I.L. was so weak & dizzy from the chemo that he fell in his house last night....he said he's doing a little better today....he made it to his recliner.

Sounds like it is "knocking him for a loop". More prayers coming to the DG family.

UPDATE: He's doing a little better...we'll go see him tomorrow...they live about 20 miles from us....40 minutes including all the curves in the two-lane road.....
