My Son-in-Law needs help!

Staying Positive is the best thing to say/do here. Get well soon, it's a rough and uncomfortable ride. Prayers sent.

We just got home from visiting him at his house...he has a portable vacuum pump/hose/canister connected to his incision that sucks all the excess fluid out....no stitches or staples--just surgical tape holding him together until the infection completely goes away....he's on pain pills in the meantime.

...he's catching up on the 3 days of NO SLEEP this time around while he was being watched every hour/cut was scrubbed 2x's a day because of the infection....
WoW !! That must have been painful !! I recall a hyperbaric chamber that uses carbon dioxide(?) to kill dead/ infected skin. It was called "taking a dive" in the medical community & had a very high success rate-

It is rough....pain meds 24/7...he rode in the car for an hour yesterday to visit his sister for a few hours to get out of the house....he's worn out today from the visit......

Monday is a visit to town to the surgeons office for blood tests/opened incision scrubbing....(makes me shiver thinking about that)

Then Tuesday--back to town to have a "talk" with the cancer specialist about different "treatments".....

Hoping for good news...praying for good healing...and if I win the lottery some day I will come down and visit..that will scare the bacteria out of anyone...just tell him Mark from Canada is going to pay a visit...say it over the wound...the bacteria will jump to the nearest tube of antibacterial hand wash to end their lives rather than have to sit and listen to me breathing on them...

Mark...........you say some GOOFY stuff...but you outdid yourself this time...

:icon_rofl:

:yahoo:

thanks, men....for all the kind words/thoughts/prayers

(we'll go see him tomorrow...he hasn't been eating much...lost 15 lbs so far...)

Son-in-law went to the doc for a chec-up concerning the incision that is stll opened....they scrubbed/treated it for an hour to keep infection out of it...

they're thinking that it won't be well/healed.......until the end of July!

he was worn-out/hurting bad, & ready for meds when they got finished.....he was done--for the remainder of the day....

I just read your posting and it's sad to know about your son-in law surgery. Don't worry he will be alright. God's grace is with him and nothing will happen to him. Yes we all are ready to help your son in law. We all will pray to God and pray that your son in law get well soon.

Thanks! We spent a couple hours at the doc today with him.....they had to clean the incision again and change the "foam stuffing" that is in the cut....then it gets changed again tomorrow--hopefully the incision will stay "clean" until Friday's appointment...

(he can't have chemo until all the infection is out of the incision...maybe in 3 weeks)

I am sad to hear about your son in law. we all are praying for him and I am sure that God will heal his wounds. We all are waiting for the good news of his getting well soon. Keep us dated. We will continue praying for him

UPDATE: the doctor said it could take another MONTH for S.I.L's stomach incision to close up completely....it's about 1/3 of the way closed now...but still has the drain-tube & vacum pump attached to his side.....

he's walking around but a ride to WalMart & back---wears him out...

Sounds like a strong man. I'm pulling for him, too.

Thanks men......going see him today....the doc said his incision might NOT ne healed for another month! He still has the vacuum pump & tube connected inside the cut...

maybe he'll feel like going somewhere to eat--he lost 26 ponds so far since the middle of June....

the docs said maybe in 2 or 3 weeks they discuss the cancer that's in his liver (right now they want him to get healed from the intestine/cancer surgery)

UPDATE:

The doctor said the incision might be well in 2 weeks....(it's been about 7 weeks trying to heal up)

Then in a couple more weeks he might be strong enough to start chemotherapy.....

but right now--even the next 2 weeks seems like a long time

How's he holding up? Hope he has the patience and feeling well otherwise.
