My NEW Cafe Racer....fighter....whatever

Nice viffer. Now get all that plastic crap off and build a bike with performance AND character! All kidding aside though, good choice in bikes if you are handy with shims for the valves.

This is the pre-Vtec version with the gear-driven cams. :icon_thumby:

No issues with valve shims.

Over 70,000km on this motor, checked the valves last winter, all in spec.

As far a building a bike with "character", this one started life 11 years ago as a plain red stocker, and has morphed into what you see now, with RC51 USD forks, billet triple clamp, Sargent seat, real Carbon fibre goodies, custom paint, larger capacity 2002+ VFR fuel tank, custom underseat exhaust, powdercoated almost everything, and a host of other mods too long to list.......

It's been to California twice, Colorado once, Oregon a few times, and BC quite a bit. :headbang:

Sweet. I have over 200k on four bikes in 14 years. Riding is a bit of a passion.

Cool bike. A bit too chunky for me though....needs to go on a diet

New gauges, R6 left hand control and exhaust wrapped

If it were me I would take off the rockstar can, it trashes up a really clean looking bike.

Either way it is dead sexy

Haha, I thought the rockstar can made it kind of unique....oh well

Primered some stuff.....

I thought the can was a neat idea. Maybe just get something better tasting. I vote full throttle. :D

Yeah I thought about full throttle, but they don't make the bigger size cans, plus, the black and gold on the rockstar kind of match the bike.

I REALLY wish they have the rockstar cola in the big can, ya know, the flat black can...

It's no big deal, I can swap out the can itself in no more then 10 min and 10 rivets or so. The can itself just slides over the muffler I made.

Going to paint this weekend.

It's so close to being done I can just smell the unburnt fuel coming out of the exhaust.....

Here is what I am thinking for my next build. What do you guys think? I think I may do it before my Bronco.....idk

Painted my stuff. We screwed up the box around the #7, so I'll have to remake some. Also, I think I'm going to put some black pinstripe to seperate the red from white. Also, the yamaha decals I got were all one peice, with some clear vinyl between the logo and the yamaha, so that made it difficult to put the decals on, and there are some bubbles and stuff. :/

That's my old man spraying it and laying down the stripe

Took her for a ride yesterday, and everything went great. The new swingarm and shock setup worked great, and is a lot better than the stock twin shocks. The shifter will need some adjusting along with the clutch and throttle cable, but that's to be expected. I went to a gas station a few blocks away and had two guys come up to me asking about it, so I guess that means it stands out. :D

It ran awesome and I didn't even have to adjust the carbs. I used MKII carbs from an xs750 with 137.5 mains and 45 pilots, with the stock needle jets. I haven't hooked up my wideband O2 sensor yet, but I will in the next few days to get it running perfect. But, I'm very impressed with this little motor (Although I guess an 850 isn't all that small), not ever owning one of these bikes I wasn't sure what to expect, but the midrange torque on this thing is astonishing. It just goes...and at any rpm. There is no waiting for it to rev up like most 4 cylinder bikes. It's definitely not as fast as the cbr600 I did as well, but it feels faster, because of how torquey the motor is. Anyway I'll get a video of it soon. I still need to get a seat cusion, install my tail light and a few other little things. The paint needs a polish and I need some black pinstriping to go around the seven and along the red/white line.

Also, should I paint my little windscreen to match?? I can't decide. And also my front fender. Red??

Here are some better shots of it. Pic whoring in 3...2...1...
