My NEW Cafe Racer....fighter....whatever

You might try packing a muffler with stainless steel wool... worked well for us and deepened the note over the glass packing.

That sounds fun... and dangerous... if we had more time till the competition for that car we'd do some head work and drop in the hotter cams... probably get around 100 hp and 90 lb-ft... :headbang:

Thanks to Paul Gast, www.fastbygast.com, and Yoshimura, I am putting 150hp to the rear wheel on 87 octane pump gas.

It is until you hit pavement that is anything less than perfect. lol

I'm sure lol... with that little 380lb(wet) car on 13x8.5" tires and 70 hp/60 lb-ft even on pavement it's a little tricky... we pinned 1st gear out of the trans - we burn rubber through the next two lol

Just need to rivet on the straps and get some wrap and the exhaust will be done.

Dude, you should get one of those NOS energy drink bottles and strap it on there to go with your Rockstar muffler! :icon_rofl:

Well I got the box under the seat done, pictures coming tomorrow. It houses all the remaining electronics, so it's all nice and hidden.

In the meantime, I made this awesome lamp, using a rotor, old shock, an xs 2nd gear and a driveshaft yoke

Got my plastic under seat box mounted. It holds the fuse box, regulator/rectifier, ignition switch, relays and all the wiring.

Now, I know it's not finished in the back, but I'm going to mount my license plate there so I haven't completed it yet.

I used 1/8" ABS plastic sheeting. This stuff is the shit. You can heat it with a heat gun and bend it, and it keeps its form. I'm going to use it up front, as a 'dashboard' for my gauges and on the sides on the windscreen.

Thanks guys! And thanks for the Rep!

Well, I couldn't live with the the box under the seat not flush with the frame....so I re-fit it some. I think it looks tons better. I also shortened the exhaust a little

Also, you can see the CBR600 fighter in the works in the background that i'm helping a friend with

awesome! really love the bike, id like to build one too. growing up around dirtbikes and motorcycles inspires me alot to do one like you are doing

I was forced to raise my headlights and cut down the windscreen.

I dont know if I like it.

I also riveted on some stainless steel straps onto my rockstar muffler. You cant tell in this pic, but they are true exhaust can straps, with the slots cut into them. Unfortunately, I put a dent into my can, so I'll have to re do it, not a big problem, just drill out the rivets and re-do them, but frustrating.

Interesting build, and interesting choice for a starting point. Triples are different!

Here is my VFR800, since this is a bike thread. It's a 1999. Last year's pics though, sorry.

The wheels are now both a very shiny metallic silver-grey, and the swingarm will be powder-coated black to match the frame, sometime this winter.

I have since replaced the nickel-plated heat shield on the RH side with a carbon fibre one, it looks much better with the rest of the bike now.
