My Frigidaire Freezer isn't freezing

Same bit*h here...waited 8 weeks for a fridge we wanted. In the meantime, I fixed the "broken"one and it is now in the barn keeping my refreshments cold --- do not tell my wife

Exactly.

And why do we need WiFi and apps and touch screen displays for a household refrigerator. It has 2 jobs - keep the cold stuff cold and the frozen stuff frozen. Light when I open the door is optional.
According to quantum theory, with the fridge door closed, until observed, the light is both on and off. I remember David Letterman's solution of a periscope to see if the light is on with the door closed.

The new fan is in and my freezer is freezing.

I can chill now.

Don't be so critical; the two screws look to be old-fashioned metal.
I'll have you know there were three screws, not two.

The mount that the motor sits in is a thick plastic and the fan blade is plastic, but when was the last time you saw a new car come with a metal fan?

When Reagan was President?

. . . or was it Carter?

And the three screws, not two, must have been for the Super Heavy Duty Cooling option.

The good thing, is, is that you fixed it, and fixed it yourself. Now that's what's cool! (y)

I've spent roughly 8 years in a couple factories that make plastic parts. SOME of them are better than metal especially for the application. There are thermosets that once formed and cooled you won't cut with any tool I've ever used. We had one that laughed at our attempts to melt it with oxy-acetylene. Don't get me wrong, it would melt but very slowly and we didn't hit it with the cutting head because there was metal inside it that needed to be saved.

I buy basic appliances that have less things that can go wrong with them with hope that if they stop working I can fix them myself. I'm sure this YouTube video probably saved me a couple hundred bucks.
There are several videos on YouTube from appliance repair guys who claim that newer appliances, especially refrigerators, don't last very long because of the way they're made for energy efficiency standards.
They advise getting an extended warranty on everything and your fridge is probably not going to last even five years.
We got a new washer two years ago and so far it's going fine but it's pretty basic and there's still a lot of automatic crap I don't like.
