I've been lurking at least a couple years, but I just bought 2 Explorers, so now I feel like I can contribute without being laughed out of town.
2? you say? Yup...the 'runner' and the 'parts rig'. The previous owner got tired of his lawn art, and I picked them up for $700.00 for the pair. The 'runner' ('93) has tranny issues..Duh!..but drives. Sort of, in an 'around town, baby it along' fashion. And the parts rig ('91) has a 'good' tranny, but no title, and the column's stripped. P.O's plan was to swap trannies and keep the runner automatic. MY plan, OTOH, is to turn the Toyo-Kogyo 5 speed left over from my used-up Aerostar, into a 4x4 version, and make the runner a 5 speed, for the same effort, and less cost than keeping it A4LD.
The runner's got torque converter issues (NO! Say it ain't so!), but it DOES drive, so I'm a-drivin.

So then...Here I am; maybe I can repay some of the knowledge I've gained over the last few years from the Tech Library and the Forums.

Off to the 'you know you drive...' thread!

Welcome to the forums. Once you get bitten by the Ranger bug it gets out of control pretty quick lol. Good luck with your swap.
