Lets Talk about Transmissions (2wd)

The consensus seems to be that T-5's cant handle the Powa. M5Dr2,, perfect fit? not manual, but the 5R55S is allmost manual.. has anyone tried a paddle-shift ranger? also tell me again why I cant put a T-56 in it. what else has been done? what else works?
 
T5's can't handle the power? That's news to me and my V8 Ranger, and millions of Foxbody's....
 
I dunno what your building but if a T5 can't handle "the powa" a 5r55S has no hope...
 
I used the 4R70W that came behind the '99 Explorer engine.

Does the 4spd doit for you? I want 6 but I guess with the right ratio 4 would do the trick.

I take it you both used the T5, I meant no offense, I just want boost.. if you're happy then Im happy for you. I thought the extra weight wore it out a bit but if it goes, it goes.

What do we know about other options?
 
My 13 second Mustang II has a transplanted T5 that has survived 20+ years of drag racing. I've seen a bunch of relatively stock fox bodies with blowers bolted on running 11's until the head gaskets went to lunch. If you have to buy a transmission I'd look at some of the Tremec stuff because it has a higher torque rating. A 4R70W has a torque convertor as well as 4 speeds and is a good transmission if you don't have to have a clutch pedal
 
So is this all to say the T5 is the best match? is the trans crossmember in position? no word on the M50Dr2.. is there a reason?
 
I suspect you'll have to move the crossmember or fabricate one. There are a bunch of T5's to be had used so the price should be reasonable. The M5OD was used in 2wd F150's which are almost unheard of in NH, plus, I personally don't like them
